Escape with your loved ones to this quaint single-storey retreat in the small hamlet of Millness – just 9 miles outside Kendal. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s ideal for small families or groups of friends looking for a home-away-from-home in the heart of Cumbria. Spend a lovely day exploring the elegant interior of the National Trust’s Sizergh Castle (4.5 miles) and then take a stroll around the rock garden and orchards. Alternatively, head into Kendal (8 miles) to visit the ruins of Kendal Castle – the birthplace of Catherine Parr – and browse independent shops and cafes. If you want to stretch your legs, follow the easy walking paths along the limestone escarpment just south of Kendal to Scout Scar. Stop off along the 3.5-mile hike at the Mushroom Shelter Viewpoint to admire the panoramic views across the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay.
Enter via the side door, up one step, and you’ll find yourself in a smart kitchen. Head to the open-plan living/dining area and take a moment to admire its traditional exposed beams, decorated bookshelf, and cosy wood burner. When it’s time to eat, head back to the kitchen to rustle up some dinner to share at the dining table. Afterwards, treat yourself to a glass of wine by the wood burner in the lounge area. At the end of the day, there are two stylish bedrooms – a large king-size and a cheerful twin room. A stylish family bathroom with a walk-in shower and a bath completes the layout. In the morning, wake up and have your morning coffee in the light and bright orangery/conservatory.
Down a couple of steps, head outside and fire up a BBQ to cook a fun dinner on the stylish patio. Afterwards, take a relaxing dip in the private wood-fired hot tub. Private parking is available for two cars.
