Escape to this beautifully restored, traditional stone-built cottage, built circa 1857 and one of the oldest houses in the historic Perthshire village of Blackford. Recently restored sympathetically to combine original cottage character with all modern comforts, it is an amazing base for exploring Scotland, with easy access to the Highlands and the centre of many historic cities and towns. Start locally with a tour and whisky tasting at Tullibardine Distillery or visit the medieval Tullibardine Chapel. Head into the Ochil Hills for walking and cycling or visit Gleneagles Resort (3 miles) for golf, spa facilities, horse riding, falconry and fine dining. Blackford itself has a village shop and pub, and the town of Auchterarder (4 miles), known as the “Lang Toun” for its unusually long main street, is well worth a visit. Stirling Castle and the National Wallace Monument are both 15 miles away, or head to Perth (17 miles) for galleries and museums, the historic Stone of Destiny, and the impressive Scone Palace.
Inside this characterful period cottage, the entrance hall is a handy place to leave coats and outdoor gear. The inviting lounge has a Smart TV with Sky and Netflix included, a wood burner-effect electric fire, and direct access to the garden, making it easy to step outside and enjoy the fresh air. You'll find a selection of DVDs, books and games to enjoy, together with a CD player and a large selection of music. The large, well-equipped kitchen is at the heart of the house, with plenty of space for cooking, eating and spending time together. It also has its own bar, ideal for a relaxed evening drink, and a door leading directly into the garden. The first of the property’s three bedrooms is on the ground floor. It’s got a super-king-size zip-and-link bed that can be made up as a twin on request, and a Smart TV. A wet room with a shower completes this floor. Upstairs, there is a second super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom, which can be made up as a twin on request, plus a twin bedroom that can be converted into a super-king-size on request. A stylish contemporary shower room completes the accommodation.
A very large, enclosed garden gives you plenty of space to relax and enjoy the fresh Scottish air. Outdoor seating and a dining area with a charcoal BBQ create an ideal spot for al fresco meals. With direct access from both the living room and kitchen, the garden feels very much part of the house and is useful for families and guests bringing dogs. The garden's standout feature is a magnificent sycamore tree, reputed to be the oldest in the area. On-street parking is subject to availability directly outside the property.
