This welcoming riverside property is in the Berkshire village of Eastbury, with a renowned gastropub right opposite – ideal for those evenings when you fancy a treat. A bit further afield, check out The White Horse in Uffington (9.5 miles), a 110-metre-long prehistoric figure on a hillside, just one of the ancient landmarks around this area. The National Trust’s Ashdown (6 miles) is an unusual Dutch-style house built in 1662 by Earl William Craven for the object of his affections, Queen Elizabeth of Bohemia. The house has limited opening, but the woodland grounds make a lovely dog walk. If horse racing is your thing, Newbury Racecourse is 14 miles away. Or just embrace the fresh air and take your pick of stunning walks within this National Landscape, incorporating both the rolling Berkshire Downs and the historic Ridgeway.

Upon entering, head into the comfortable open-plan living area, incorporating a lounge seating eight, a dining area with an eight-seater table, and a well-equipped kitchen. This open-plan area lies within the main body of the barn, with a vaulted ceiling and exposed ancient beams, lending it lots of traditional character. However, it has all the modern conveniences you could need, including a Smart TV for entertainment. The master king-size bedroom is located on the ground floor and boasts wonderful garden views, a walk-in wardrobe, a make-up table, a TV, and an en-suite bathroom. Also on the ground floor is a comfortable twin bedroom. A double bedroom can be found upstairs in the eaves, with slow, sloping ceilings and an en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath.

Outside, the large garden is fully enclosed for peace of mind if you’re bringing your dog. There is a lovely patio area with seating, just right for leisurely breakfasts or al fresco BBQ feasts. This property also has a helpful outdoor tap for cleaning mucky paws after bracing countryside dog walks. Private parking is available for four cars.
