Midway between Aberdeen and Inverness, the picturesque Victorian village of Craigellachie sits on the banks of the River Spey and is home to thriving independent stores, art galleries and welcoming pubs and restaurants. Pull on your walking boots for a day hiking the Speyside Way which runs next to the house or spend the day discovering the rugged Cairngorms National Park (23 miles). Speyside is home to almost 50 whisky distilleries, over half of the working distilleries in Scotland. Sample some of the whiskies available on a tour of The Macallan distillery in the village or experience the ancient art of coopery at Speyside Cooperage. Pedal your way through the Glenlivet Estate (15 miles) or activate the adrenalin with an off-road adventure across the estate.

Enjoying a central position in the Moray valley, your holiday home is perfectly situated to explore the glorious landscape by foot or cycle, enjoy salmon fishing in the world-famous beats along the River Spey or discover local attractions such as the Walkers Shortbread Factory and Baxter's Visitor Centre. Approached along the sweeping driveway that leads through the extensive gardens, park your car alongside the property, and enter the front door into the spacious entrance hall where there's plenty of room for walking boots and coats. There's storage for all your provisions in the generous kitchen/diner where you will find everything you need including electric oven and hob, fridge, under-counter freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer to make your stay a home-from-home. Enjoy leisurely meals at the elegant dining table overlooking the gardens as you plan your next day's adventures. After a long day of outdoor pursuits, relax into one of the comfortable sofas in the living room and watch the flickering flames in the open fireplace. Younger guests can spend time in the family room with TV and Xbox One giving the adults some peace and quiet. The five bedrooms are also on this level, all of which are named after the various rivers in the Spey catchment. Three of the bedrooms are light and airy with super king-size zip and link beds and plenty of storage space for all your belongings. The beds are dressed in distinctive local tartans giving each room a warm and individual feel. There is a further room with king-size zip and link bed and an additional cosy single with pull out trundle bed. Enjoy an indulgent soak in the free-standing tub in the spacious family bathroom that comes complete with separate shower and WC. Heading deeper into the property you will find an additional contemporary shower room with WC.

Outside, you have over 1.5 acres of secure, enclosed garden to explore. Play ball games on the lawn or spread out your blanket for an al fresco picnic. Fire up the BBQ for an early evening meal before heading into the garage games room for a table tennis tournament late into the night.

The house was very well equiped and had everything we could have needed. The location was spot on for a weeks chilly fishing and the use of the garage for storing all of our fishing clobber was invaluable. The garden was great for Cosmo (energetic questionally behaved retriever!) who loved exploring. We will definitely be back!
