There are lovely country walks from the property, including a popular hike up to the Lumsdale Falls making this the ideal base for those who enjoy the outdoors. Bring your bikes and enjoy the off-road cycling tracks for those who like exploring on two wheels. Matlock Bath is a well-known resort on the River Derwent, visit popular Heights of Abraham cable cars, enjoy fish and chips, and numerous entertainments throughout the year. The Matlock Bath illuminations and firework display are especially popular in autumn bringing in the crowds and lighting up the sky. A little further afield Bakewell and Chatsworth House, provide a wonderful day out exploring the local businesses that line the streets.

Head up a flight of external steps to reach the first floor to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The open-plan space is warm and inviting and offers a comfy sofa perfectly placed in-front of the gas wood burner and TV just waiting for you to sink in and put your feet up. Rustle up a meal in the kitchen which offers electric oven and gas hob, fridge and dishwasher and nearby dining table, an ideal place to enjoy a special meal with a loved one. Head downstairs to the ground floor where you will find the super-king zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made into twin upon request) with floor to ceiling windows that let the light flood in and complimenting bedroom furniture. The nearby bathroom is a truly beautiful space offering freestanding bath, enclosed shower and WC.

Outside there is an enclosed courtyard with seating and BBQ, perfect for relaxing throughout the summer days. There is off road parking available for two cars.

So peaceful. We brought our dog to recover after surgery, he had the best time, lots of little walks. We forgot his dog bed, but the cottage had one. We were all sad to leave

Treacle Cottage was amazing, perfect for a couple, cosy, well equipped and very peaceful. The bed was very comfortable slept like a log, fantastic bathroom, powerful shower and the deep double ended bath was perfect for a soak after a long walk. Local pubs very friendly, the Gate just a few minutes and the Tavern about 15 mins walk back on the mainRead more road. Lovely walks on your door step, couple of steep hills though and a bit muddy underfoot, so decent boots needed. Cromford Mills worth a visit , Matlock Bath, avoid the weekends , really busy and of course Matlock, if there would recommend Zinc for an excellent home cooked breakfast and Ginger the butchers. Liz and Tony the owners are lovely, there if needed. We would highly recommend, wonderful one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Hide

We had a lovely weekend in a beautiful cottage with a lovely host. Well positioned for Matlock and Bakewell. We had a lovely walk from the door to a local waterfall and experienced two lovely evening meals at two very different local pubs. Very dog friendly environment and would definitely recommend a visit.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and beautifully fitted out. The bedroom and bathroom were excellent. Lovely place to stay with our dog, close to the Peak District National Walk. A pub serving great food a 2 minute walk from the cottage was much appreciated.

What a beautiful cottage, cosy and well appointed. The owners have done an amazing job of the conversion and it felt high end and luxurious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again but we collected a new puppy on our return home so will have 2 dogs now and it's a 1 dog cottage.

What a fantastic cottage this is, much thought & effort has gone into making it a beautiful retreat to relax in. The underfloor heating system is great & easy to control & a pleasure to experience! Plenty of kitchen equipment makes cooking a breeze not that we did any as we ate out the three days lol. My husband and I stayed with our dog at the cottage for our minimoon. The bed was so comfortable and we loved the bathroom. We went out to eat at The Gate Inn and The Tavern. The food in both was lovely and in walking distance. We also ordered takeaway using Just Eat. The out of hours vets are in Alfreton which is only about a 20min drive and they Read morewere really helpful, should the need arise. Which it did for us! A lovely, cosy cottage in a beautiful location with great walks both from the cottage and within a short car ride. The Gate Inn was less than a 10-minute walk which was a friendly pub-restaurant with good food. I would definitely book again.

Beautiful, quirky, very clean & tidy cottage. Finished to a high standard. We had a tray of flapjacks & milk in the fridge plus biscuits on our arrival. The owners are lovely & non intrusive but there if you need them. The Gate Inn pub a short walk away & lovely food & cocktails. Great place for walkers & our dog loved it. Beautiful little cottage, so nicely designed and made for a really relaxing weekend. The nearby waterfall was an easy way to explore the countryside. All the facilities in the house were very good, incredible bath and shower, very comfy bed, excellent!

Wonderful cottage for 2 and our dog! Everything was to a high standard and enabled us to relax and unwind. Everything we needed was there and we were so comfortable. The location was ideal, just out of the way but not too far from busier areas. Lovely areas to walk and plenty of places to eat.

Lovely cottage, very comfy bed, nice location for the Gate Inn pub within a stones throw, great Sunday lunch. Walked into Matlock easily along the footpath and the dog enjoyed the 8 mile walk around Carsington water. Would highly recommend the cottage and would like to go there in the summer!

Lovely cottage, great location. We went on some fab walks with our dog straight from the cottage. There was also a park nearby which was perfect for playing ball. We tried both pubs in the village - both a short walk and dog friendly. The food and service was fab in both.

A beautiful, stylish little piggery conversion. Perfect for two. Luxurious bathroom. Huge bed. Private patio area. Lovely hosts. Ideally situated for local walks., both long and short. Walked to Lumsdale waterfalls and local brewery for pastie and a pint on our first day. Then walked to Matlock, Matlock Bath, then drove to Heights of Abraham, CarsiRead morengton Water, Cromford Mills and canal. All easily reached from cottage. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Treacle Cottage. Weather glorious. Hide

The cottage is as good as it looks. Very relaxing. The local area is great for short walks and there are a couple of great pubs (with food) within walking distance. We found access to other parts of the Peak District to be easy - including several day trips to the Castleton area.

What can I say first class cottage to stay in. Great walks on the door step for walking your dog. Absolutely lovely village, 2 pubs in the village too. Lovely cottage in a central location. It had everything we needed and was comfortable, bright and very clean. All rooms were a good size with a comfortable bed and amazing bathroom. Definitely a place we would come back to.
