This tranquil retreat sits on the edge of Forres, on the Morayshire coast. It’s close to stunning sandy beaches like Findhorn (5 miles). This region is popular for walking, cycling, canoeing on the river Findhorn and exploring, with an array of wildlife including seals, dolphins, and a great variety of bird life including ospreys. Culbin Forest (3 miles) is a unique nature reserve, stretching for 9 miles along the coast. It was used as a location for Christopher Nolans Blockbuster, 'The Odyssey'. The Highland capital of Inverness is just 26 miles away and fans of the Outlander series can visit locations featured in the series, such as the Clava Cairns (21 miles) next to Culloden Battlefield. Nairn Golf Club (10 miles) offers a championship course that has hosted many major golf tournaments, and Castle Stuart Golf Links (21 miles) has hosted two Scottish Opens, attracting golfers from all over the world. There are also various whisky distilleries to visit such as Benromach (2 miles), Glenburgie (6 miles) and Dunphail (6.5 miles).

Set on the outskirts of the town, yet only 0.5 miles from the shop and cafe, this idyllic retreat provides a luxurious and cosy escape for up to four people. Its secluded location makes it a wildlife haven, with regular sightings made of pine martens and roe deer, tawny owls, red squirrels and the ospreys that nest nearby. Step inside and be captivated by the interior design that exudes warmth, comfort, and sophistication. Every detail has been carefully considered to create an ambience of modern luxury within a country setting. The cottage’s lounge features a wood burner, ensuring that even the coldest of evenings are spent in blissful warmth and relaxation. The modern kitchen is equipped with all the necessary amenities. The tastefully decorated master bedroom boasts a super king-size bed, inviting you to unwind after a day of exploration, and offers a relaxing space for a peaceful night's sleep. A second bedroom features twin beds which can be made up to a super-king-size if required, perfect for friends or family members sharing this enchanting getaway. Completing the layout of this welcoming property is a spacious family bathroom with an extra deep Japanese style bath and drencher shower.
The secluded large garden offers guests total privacy, and the open situation means you have acres of sky and open countryside to gaze at. The skies are exceptionally clear at night, and the Northern Lights are visible at certain times of year. The garden seating offers the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine as the sun sets. There is private parking for two cars.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size and 1 twin zip-and-link (can be made up as a super-king-size on request)

The cottage is in a stunning location. The photographs however don't tell the full story. When I booked the "At a glance" information said unsuitable for under 8s but made it sounds perfect for those with some mobility issues but this is not so. A comment has now been added about the deep bath and mobility, in the photo it looks like an ordinary bRead moreathroom, however as the bath is really deep a plastic stool was provided to aid entry, however you had to have the mobility to be able to avoid the glass screen with nothing to hold onto and no bath mat was provided for in the tub In a cottage for 4 adults having a soaker bath in the only bathroom is style over practicality. The seating in the living room was also very low and the settee seat cushions had lost all the support. There is a no shoe policy, whilst the slippers were a nice touch the entrance hall was very tight, room for only 1 person in the doorway, nowhere to sit and there was nowhere to put wet gear, it needs a porch. We booked for 2 weeks and was told the owners had to have access to water the plants on the Saturday which we agreed to but they also came in another day unannounced when we weren't there which was unforgivable. Added to the list of rules and the uncomfortable seating it really spoiled the holiday. Hide

A wonderful home from home with kind, supportive owners. A lovely, well equipped, peaceful place to stay and yet so near the essentials with a small well stocked shop within an easy walk. Highly recommend. Watching the wildlife from the window was amazing for our grandson. We will be back!

A beautifully appointed cottage. Living plants and fresh flowers give a home-from-home feel and the welcome extras left for us were particularly appreciated. The owners were also kind enough to forward on a little book which I left at the cottage by accident.
