Located amongst the rolling hills near Huntly in Aberdeenshire, this property is ideal for couples and small families that love the great outdoors. There are plenty of walking trails on the doorstep, including Tap o’Noth, Craigfall viewpoint, The Buck of Cabrach, Gartly Moor and Bennachie Hill, along with numerous other forest trails in proximity.

The cottage is adjacent to Leith Hall estate, a quirky family home and manicured gardens filled with artefacts collected from all over the world, now owned by the National Trust. The steading is also within easy reach of the Moray and North East coastline with plenty of places you can go for day trips. The cottage is accessed with steps up to the front door into a hall, which then leads through to a dining area for four people. One quirky thing you will notice in the cottage are the smaller doorframes throughout, yet the ceilings are very high, so it still feels spacious. Leading on from the dining area is the kitchen, which contains a beautiful Belfast sink that has been installed within a wooden dresser. The kitchen contains an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer. There are steps up from here into the patio and garden area. From the hall, through a small corridor is the main bathroom, the second bathroom and the lounge, which you enter at mezzanine level and then step down into the main seating area that surrounds a cosy wood burner. The lounge is of a good size and has been comfortably furnished to provide guests with a homely atmosphere. The two bedrooms in the cottage are also accessed via steps down into each room. Both bedrooms contain king-size zip-and-link beds (which can be made up as 2’6” twins on request). The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower head over the bath and a WC, and both this bedroom and bathroom have been tastefully decorated and furnished with soft pastel colours and grey hues throughout. The second bedroom is of ample size and has a slightly lowered window and is serviced by the main bathroom across the hall which contains a shower over bath, and a WC. There is an additional fold-out bed, suitable for a child, which can be made up in the master bedroom if required.

Outside, you will see where the old mill wheel used to be attached to the side of the property, with the stream that leads through the grounds and down into the woodland area of the enclosed garden, perfect for dog owners. There is a separate garden area for our guests with a picnic bench and BBQ for when you want to make the most of al fresco dining during the summer months. The parking area has plenty of space for numerous cars, and the steading is attached to the owner’s property.

The cottage was lovely and we felt at home especially relaxing in the lounge. It was spotlessly clean and the king size bed was very comfy, the bedroom decor was very much to my taste, and the kitchen was well equipped. The area was quiet and the scenery very picturesque. We enjoyed walks around Aberlour, Dufftown and Leith Hall just down the roaRead mored. Thank you for the wine and shortbread which we enjoyed and hope to return in the future. Hide

If you want some peace and quiet this is an ideal place to get just that. It is only a short drive to Huntly: The Bank restaurant and Forbes Raeburn butcher are recommended. You can access the coast, Speyside and south towards Braemar with ease We were lucky to get to chat with Jan the owner who lived next door, who had relocated with his wife fRead morerom Germany, and is genuinely passionate about the area. He keeps the cottage very clean, all of the furnishings are comfortable, and all other facilities are of good and work well. (The hot water is very hot.) The garden area is a bonus especially if you have dogs. If you have a car with low sills / spoilers it may have difficulty with the access track, but it should not really be an issue for most vehicles. In short - really good. Hide

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable cottage. The cottage is located in peaceful countryside and travelling about makes it the ideal location as we were able to visit many places. Also walks in the area.

Second stay for us at this lovely cottage in a beautiful rural location. This time in winter and we found it to be nice and warm with efficient heating and cosy with the log burner. Its very spacious and comfortable and well kitted out. The beds are very comfortable. Nice walks nearby- our dog loved the enclosed garden!

Woodside Steading is a comfortable, well-equiped and beautifully unique place in a gorgeous setting. We spent a very happy week here and found the kitchen easy to use, the dining room very handy and the living room cosy.
