This charming cottage for two is in the historic market town of Hexham. Set on the edge of Sele Park, enjoy strolls from your front door through the stunning formal gardens and open spaces. Hexham is nestled between the remote landscapes of Northumberland National Park and the North Pennines National Landscape, making it a great base for keen walkers and explorers. The town is packed with historic buildings, including Hexham Abbey and Old Goal, and is also within easy reach of Hadrian’s Wall and its Roman forts. You’ll have a fantastic choice when it comes to eating out, with an inspiring collection of independent coffee shops, bistros, and restaurants dotted throughout the town. Nearby days out/attractions include the picturesque Roman town of Corbridge, 7 miles away, and The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre, 13 miles from the cottage. The vibrant city of Newcastle is 24 miles away.

The single-storey holiday home is located within a shared courtyard at one of the entrances to Sele Park. Enter via the metal gate and through the front door into a welcoming hallway, where you can hang up your coats and store muddy walking boots. From here, head through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is decorated in neutral tones and has a collection of homely accessories and soft furnishings. In one corner is a sleek kitchen area for preparing delicious dinners for two, which you can share at the breakfast bar. After a bite to eat, snuggle up on the plump sofa to catch up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. When night falls, head across the hallway to the attractive king-size bedroom for a restful sleep. Completing the accommodation is a stylish shower room.

The cottage has no outside space; however, with Sele Park on your doorstep, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful walks amongst the colourful gardens and woodland areas. There are also plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic in the sunshine and benches to sit with a morning coffee as you take in the scenery. The cottage has allocated parking for one car in the courtyard.

The cottage location is just fantastic for Hexham. Everything is minutes walk away and the town itself is wonderful and so very dog friendly. Great location for exploring sites in Northumberland too and having a parking space is a real bonus. The kitchen is great with loads of space and the cottage has lovely decor. The gatehouse cottage is just right for a couple and in an excellent location for visiting Hadrians Wall, Corbridge and various NT properties. It is right next to the pretty Sele park. As there isn't a garden we took camping chairs and sat in the sunny peaceful park reading. Within a few minutes walk there are shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Read moreThe cottage has a sofa in the lounge area and a lovely, comfortable bed in the separate bedroom. The bedroom has a small unit for hangjng clothes and I hung long dresss on the back of the door. There is a large chest of drawers in the entrance hall. The bathroom has a strong shower head over a good sized walk in shower. There are only two windows in the property, but sky lights provide plenty of natural light. It was a plus factor to have a designated car parking place. We loved the small friendly town of Hexham and would recommend this little quirky cottage. Hide

Ideal situation for the town, easy to find with on-site parking. Bedroom spacious with comfy bed, bathroom adequate but needs a shelf.

Excellent location and very quiet. Town centre just 5 minutes walk across the park. For dog owners Hexham seems to be a remarkably dog friendly town.
