This characterful countryside cottage in the beautiful Polden Hills is an ideal spot for couples or small group. Stroll straight from the property and into the heart of Somerset’s beautiful countryside, where Shapwick Nature Reserve (1 mile) sits right on your doorstep – a haven for wildlife, peaceful walks, and access to the Bittern Trail, a flat, traffic-free cycle route connecting Glastonbury to the Avalon Marshes Centre. The vibrant town of Glastonbury (7 miles), known for its independent shops and galleries. Enjoy a relaxed drink at local pubs in Westhay (3 miles) and Burtle (5 miles). Nature lovers will also enjoy exploring Saltlands Community Woodland and Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve (10 miles), while those seeking more dramatic scenery can venture to the Quantock Hills National Landscape (21 miles). Or explore the nearby cities of Bath or Bristol.

Inside, this traditional barn has been renovated to a high standard, starting with the lovely kitchen and dining area is a lovely space for preparing and sharing meals. After dinner, wander across the underfloor-heated floors to the inviting sitting room where a plush corner sofa sits beside a crackling wood burner and a TV. The room’s impressive height is enhanced by a striking mezzanine walkway above, which creates a wonderful sense of space and light. On warm days, open the bi-fold doors and let fresh countryside air drift in while you relax indoors or step straight outside to enjoy the sunshine. Upstairs, the mezzanine level leads to a family shower room with a walk-in shower, along with two comfortable bedrooms – one king-size with views of Glastonbury Tor and one double – with exposed stonework and beams which provide a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring.

In good weather, head outside to the private enclosed patio and garden where you can unwind in the fresh air. The patio area sets you up perfectly for relaxed outdoor dining or morning coffee. A neat lawn beyond offers up additional space to stretch out with a picnic or simply soak up the sunshine. Ample off-road parking is available.

Lovely place to stop at and central for many places to visit, The barn itself was lovely, clean and comfortable and the owners make you feel so welcome and on hand if you need them. It is one of the best that I have stayed in and will certainly go again.
