This Grade II-listed house is set overlooking a picture-postcard historic bridge in the quaint village of Gayle within the Yorkshire Dales. Built in 1810 as a meeting room and office by the son of the owner of Gayle Mill (an early water mill), it has been carefully restored and renovated to an immaculate standard, making it the perfect country retreat within this conservation area. With the Pennine Way and short meandering waterfall trails on the doorstep, such as Aysgil Force and Hardraw Force, the area also offers myriad country pursuits such as boating, fishing, horse riding, potholing or even clay pigeon shooting. The nearby market town of Hawes (0.5 miles) boasts quaint shops, cafes, pubs, a traditional market, and a farmers’ auction. And it’s also home to the award-winning Wensleydale Cheese Factory, associated with the film ‘Wallace and Grommit’, where you can try delicious tasters.

With waterside views of the beck from every room, this stunning property offers charm and character. Admire exposed beams and feature stone walls, together with modern contemporary fittings of the highest standard. Leave coats and muddy boots at the doorstep of the impressive glass entrance, then head into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is perfect for entertaining with its magnificently equipped kitchen (that includes a wine chiller). Prepare delicious meals then take a seat at the spacious dining table to enjoy your home-cooked cuisine. Cosy up on the comfortable sofa in front of the stone fireplace and wood burner during those chilly winter evenings and watch your favourite movie on the Smart TV. When it finally comes to retire for the evening, head upstairs to the first-floor bedrooms, including one king-size, and one twin with bespoke sliding barn door wardrobes, along with a modern family bathroom. Or head up a further staircase to the second floor with exposed beams and original candle stone perched above the comfortable king-size bed. This room also features a sumptuous en-suite with a bath and a separate multi-flow shower.

Outside, you can relax on the front bench and enjoy your morning coffee whilst listening to the water from the beck, taking in the magnificent scenery and making perfect holiday memories.

Fantastic cottage in a great location with a quick walk in to Hawes and close to main roads to travel further afield. Cottage was immaculately presented and very comfortable...great to relax in after a day out walking. Very well equipped and well thought out. We would definitely consider a return if visiting Hawes again.

Beautiful property in a stunning location. Welcome basket was a real treat and we really enjoyed the Wensleydale cheese with the fruit cake. Well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Gorgeous views and walks from the doorstep and the White Hart Inn pies were to die for. We will definitely return.

A great base for a dales walking holiday. Very high standard accommodation. Excellent to eat in or 10 minutes walk into Hawes for pubs and cafes.

Beckside House is a beautiful, well furnished cottage. The kitchen is well equipped and the welcome package was fantastic. Loved the dressing gowns and slippers. Its so lovely to sit outside the cottage next to the beck after a long walk. The bedroom on the top floor isnt easy to walk around due the sloping ceiling. Beautiful house, tastefully decorated. Amazing interior, loved the open plan kitchen/diner and lounge. The welcome hamper was probably the best we've ever encountered. We also liked the benches outside the front where we relaxed with a cuppa at the end of the day.

We have stayed in many properties over the years and this has to be up there as one of the best. Fabulous location - comfortable, well-equipped and decorated to a very high standard. Could not fault it and would love to return.
