This fabulous, converted chapel is situated in the village of Bickington, where visitors will find a pub and a shop with a post office. For those looking for a traditional seaside holiday, there is a choice of lovely beaches including Saunton Sands, Westward Ho! and Croyde (all within 11 miles). Also within easy reach are a range of popular attractions to suit all tastes, including Exmoor Zoo (12 miles), Broomhill Sculpture Garden (5 miles), and the National Trust property of Arlington Court (10 miles).

Stepping into the property, you’ll find yourself in the original vestibule before entering the main living area – the high ceilings create a real feeling of space. The contemporary interior includes underfloor heating and modern appliances such as a large Smart TV that blends seamlessly with the original features. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has been well thought out and the original pews have even been incorporated into the design. Comfortable sofas and a large dining table enable everyone to be able to eat together. The kitchen area has a dual fuel range cooker, instant boiling water tap on the island unit, and integrated appliances including a dishwasher and fridge/freezer. From the lounge area, a bespoke staircase with treads made from the church’s original seating leads to a mezzanine level which has some of the best views in the house. Here you'll find a small games table, bean bags, books and games, and a balustrade offering views down into the impressive living space. Back downstairs, head through the kitchen and you’ll find the utility room with a washing machine, sink and tumble drier. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms; both bedrooms have super-king zip and link beds (which can be made into twins on request). The larger of the two has an en-suite shower room with a shower and WC. Next door, there is a bathroom with a roll-top bath, separate shower and WC. All these rooms are connected by the bright and spacious rear hall which has two sets of bi-folding doors that lead out to the west-facing garden. Head up the staircase from the rear hall to the large landing area that leads to the master bedroom with a super-king-size bed, roof lights, built-in wardrobes and a dreamy en-suite with a bath, separate shower and WC.

The garden is perfect for relaxing, and here you will find artificial grass and plenty of space to sit and enjoy the sunshine. It’s west facing and so enjoys sun from early afternoon until late evening, with quality garden furniture and an interesting outside fireplace where you can plan your next day’s adventure.

Overall lovely stay. Few improvements needed to add comfort and security. Games table is a nice touch. They had decorated for Christmas which was very nice. Beds are comfy and the showers are great.

The chapel is very well equipped, spacious, clean and comfortable. We didnt have the best weather so unfortunately didnt get to use the garden but it is a lovely outside space. The turntable was very useful as the road can get quite busy at certain times. Very convenient location for beaches and exploring north Devon. Highly recommended.

Firstly don't let the reviews regarding the road put you off, I am glad we didn't. We come from Chelmsford and our local roads are busy this road in comparison to ours in not busy, yes it has traffic and is a main road but it moves, the Chapel is set off the road and we did not hear anything. This is a lovely property, well equipped and generally quite comfortable. We didnt use the car turntable as we found it easy to park without it. The games area provided great fun. The garden is very basic and has plastic grass which we werent keen on, it was well enclosed and dog safe. This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in over many years. Extremely well equipped, very comfortable lounge area and bedrooms. Bathroom excellent. So interesting and quirky finished to an exceptionally high standard. Great location for exploring North Devon. The four of us had a wonderful break there and we highly recommend it.

More comfortable sofa in the living area, shower head in upstairs ensuite shower needs replacing and there was a really terrible smell in the wardrobe upstairs. We didn't use it at all and had to keep the doors closed. Kitchen is awkward as on so many levels.
