We had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Old Police House in Great Ayton. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming, comfortable and beautifully looked after. A lovely touch was the thoughtful welcome pack, which included sparkling wine, scones with butter and jam, along with crisps. It was such a generous and welcoming gesture, anRead mored a wonderful way to start our stay. The house itself was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. It was incredibly comfortable and cosy, with the hot tub being a particular highlight after a busy day exploring the area, particularly as I'd hurt my back previously. The location is brilliant too. We enjoyed visiting the Royal Oak, with its traditional atmosphere and great food, and also made the trip to the Dudley Arms in Ingleby Greenhow, which was another real highlight. We also had a fantastic day trip to Whitby by train from Great Ayton station. The journey through the beautiful Esk Valley was an experience in itself, and arriving in Whitby by train made for a wonderfully relaxing day out without having to worry about driving or parking. And of course, no visit to Great Ayton would be complete without trying Aytons Fish and Chips. The quality was excellent, with a delicious local pie & delicious chips with gravy, curry sauce & mushy peas. There are fantastic walks and beautiful countryside nearby too, making The Old Police House an ideal base for exploring the North York Moors and surrounding villages. Overall, we couldn't fault our stay. The combination of a beautiful, comfortable property, thoughtful touches, excellent local food and fantastic days out made this a truly memorable break. We absolutely loved our stay at The Old Police House and would happily return. Hide

Great location for exploring the area. Great Ayton is a lovely village with lots to offer, some super coffee shops within walking distance from the cottage. Cottage was ok for 2 of us, would have been a bit tight for 4 people.
