Explore the sights on foot and make sure you include the town's 11th-century castle on your itinerary, too. When you are ready to break away, the surrounding area is made up of a patchwork of natural playgrounds, from moor to woodland to rivers. 16 miles away, there is a short walk in Aysgarth that leads you through magical woodland and past Aysgarth Falls.

With origins dating back to the 1700s, this property has history and charm aplenty. Given a thorough makeover by talented hands, it now embraces its new chapter with style whilst still retaining its authentic twinkle. Coupled with the room's statement feature wall, the two sofas and wood burner are an enticing combination after a day out and about. For evening entertainment, the room has a Smart TV (with Freeview), DVD player and SONAS sound system. Next to capture your attention is the kitchen/diner. Good location, with a cosy feel, comfortable beds, and well-equipped kitchen. However, while surface cleaning was okay, the property would benefit from a deeper clean. Garden in a poor state, which was disappointing given the hot tub is a key feature. The cottage is lovely but it seems as its up for sale there seems to be lacking in the upkeep. When tried to contact the owner about the fridge/freezer going off it took all day to reply so we had to put food etc outside. This was the same with the boiler as well. reply from holidaycottages.co.uk Thank you for your feedback. The homeowner has confiRead morermed the fridge issue was caused by it being switched off accidentally and that the boiler was functioning shortly after being checked. Period property & tastefully decorated but no carbon monoxide detector. One was delivered the next day but the cleaner should have a checklist to ensure this is present. The kitchen drawers & freezer were dirty, the plastic ice cube tray was smashed, no kitchen tongues, no bottle stopper & only large saucepans. There was a lid for a small pan but nRead moreo actual pan. The oven light didnt work, no coffee machine, not even a basic cafetiere & fag ends in the garden. Not exactly a 5 star property. reply from holidaycottages.co.uk Thank you for your feedback.
