  • Great for walkers, with a coastal path leading to The Needles
  • Walking distance to shops, public houses and restaurants
Property code: OC-IC105

Nestled on the west side of the island, this cottage lies within an excellent walking area. A coastal path leads south to natural local landmark, The Needles, and more walks and cycle trails run northwards to the attractive coastal port at Yarmouth. The sandy bays are popular with islanders and visitors alike, with plenty of swimming, boating, and fishing spots. There’s lots to do inland too, the small market town of Freshwater is within walking distance of the cottage, offering a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants and a golf course with gorgeous, panoramic coastal views.

This charming cottage has stunning garden views throughout. All rooms are south-west facing, providing a light and sunny environment. The attractive kitchen is equipped with an electric fan oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher, a separate freezer and washing machine are available outside in an outhouse. Here you’ll also find a quaint breakfast area with seating for six - a great spot for discussing the day’s plans over your morning coffee. The large open-plan lounge/dining room is the perfect place to unwind, with an open fire that gives a real homely feel. There’s ample seating and a Freeview TV, so the whole family can relax together after a busy day exploring. In the dining area you will also find a woodburner, which is perfect for more formal meals. There’s also a ground floor WC, and a side lobby with washing machine and freezer. Upstairs are three lovely bedrooms, two doubles and one twin, as well as a bathroom with rain shower over the bath, and WC.

Enjoy the sun in the cottage’s south-west facing garden, offering an enclosed space to relax. There’s a large sunken garden in the centre, and garden furniture on the terrace so you can make the most of any good weather with a spot of al fresco dining. The cottage is approached via a fairly narrow driveway where up to four cars can be parked; entrance to the driveway from the road is narrowest point. It is suitable for larger cars with a turn around space at its widest point, at the top of the drive by reversing into the garage which can also be used for storing small boats and bicycles. We had a lovely, relaxing stay! The cottage was perfect for our family set up with comfy beds in the three bedrooms. We particularly loved the garden and spent a lot of time reading and relaxing outside, listening to the birds. The nearest beach is very close and great for swimming and we enjoyed Freshwater and Alum Bay too. The open top bus up to Read morethe battery is good fun. This was a great bit of the Isle of Wight to stay in and we managed well without a car and with a couple of push bikes. We would love to return. Hide

Very comfortable spacious cottage plenty of space for 6 people although the bathroom was rather small. We did get a bit chilly late afternoon and when the heating went off in the evening. An interesting garden although we were not there at right time to see it at its best. Very well equipped.

A lovely cottage and garden, with its own private atmosphere among the Totland houses. Very quiet, and good base for all the sights of West Wight, some in walking distance.

Fantastic welcome to the cottage! Everything was explained or given clearly and in advance (directions, fire safety regulations, wifi code, keycode, issue with the dishwasher, recommendations etc) The cottage was very well presented, very clean and spacious, even for 5 adults. We enjoyed the outdoor space on sunny afternoons after discovering the iRead moresland. The kitchen was very well appointed too. All in all a great stay where we would go again. Hide
