The village itself is situated at the point where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet just before joining the Atlantic Ocean, boasting a wealth of maritime history. Explore the picturesque quayside, cobbled lanes, independent shops and galleries, before enjoying a drink or a meal in one of the local pubs or restaurants. Stunning coastal and rural walks, including along the ever popular Tarka Trail and across Northam Burrows, can be accessed close by and showcase the spectacular coastline and rolling countryside the area is famed for. Beach lovers are also well-catered for with pretty Instow, Saunton and Woolacombe all nearby. Other attractions include RHS Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal, Tapeley Park, the Milky Way and The Big Sheep and shopping at Atlantic Village.

On entering this delightful cottage, you are greeted by the fabulous lounge area, boasting original beams and a beautiful fire place. This is a great space to sit back, relax and watch a movie or two on the Smart TV after a day of exploring the local surroundings. The kitchen area is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment and washing machine, great for budding cooks should you choose to bring back local ingredients from the nearby shops, the local butcher or fresh fish from the coast. Heading up the steep stair case you will find the two bedrooms, one double and one twin. You will also find the bathroom on this floor with shower over bath and WC.

Venture outside to the rear garden, which can be accessed via the kitchen area by steps, to a lawn area as well as a decked area with garden furniture. There is roadside parking available subject to availability alternatively, there is a long stay car park located less than a 100 yards away.

We have stayed in many different cottages in Appledore over the years and so far this is our favourite.

Conveniently situated for the quay, local pubs and bus stop. Torridge Council sell weekly parking permits for both long stay car parks) and we had no problem unloading the car outside the cottage on arrival (if you do so be aware other cars, home deliveries etc cannot pass). The stairs are as described and not for the less agile.

Cottage has lots of character and is located in a really nice spot.

The cottage is well supplied with all you would need. The enclosed garden was a godsend for our two dogs. There are steep steps to get into the main part of the garden. Parking in Odun Street car park was excellent. The very best fish and chips is at Sylvesters Meeting Street at the side of the Seafront hotel. Be aware there is only one supermarketRead more which is ridiculously expensive which is a shame if you want to support local businesses. Hide

The cottage was great for us. Garden is fine, no frills, but good to have a fairly secure place for our dog and nice to sit out in close to the house. Appledore has lots of pubs and cafes where we were welcomed. The independent shops are fun for a browse and purchase or two. The bus service to Bideford and Westward Ho! was regular and well appreciaRead moreted by us. We took the long stay car park option - nearby and 30 per week.
