Anchor House is an impressive double fronted former fisherman’s cottage, which has been lovingly furnished and decorated retaining much of its traditional charm. Set in a cobbled courtyard, the house is centrally located and just a short walk from the heart of the village. Appledore is a great spot for an escape away from the rat race, where guests can wander the narrow streets and enjoy the small galleries, cafes, boutique shops and selection of pubs. If you feel the need to leave the village, the whole of the North Devon coast is easily accessible by car and the sandy beaches of Westward Ho! and Instow are just a few miles away. RHS Rosemoor Gardens and the heritage village of Clovelly are also a must to explore.

This cosy cottage offers one double and one twin bedroom, which are both accessed by steep cottage style stairs. The family bathroom has a shower over bath, WC and heated towel rail. There is a further small shower/wet room and WC on the ground floor of the cottage. The lounge has a Victorian fireplace, woodburner, TV/ DVD and a wide selection of books and films perfect for a cosy night in after a day of exploring. If you would prefer to stay in and cook than go out, the well-equipped kitchen has a gas hob, electric double oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with ice compartment and a washer/dryer. A few steps from the kitchen lead up to a small adjoining conservatory with a stable door at one end.

Although there is no enclosed outside space there is an attractive shared courtyard area to the front of the cottage which can be enjoyed.

Firstly thank you for the opportunity to stay in this quaint period peaceful characterful home as a first time visitor to this beautiful part of North Devon. Clearly the owners care much for this house and the needs of their guests. Clean, well equipped and a super location - stairs are very steep not just quite hence my reluctance to recommend to Read moreeveryone! The sure way to improve on it would have been to overlook the estuary! Walks over to the reserve and evening strolls into village were beautiful. Hide

Cottage very comfortable and ideally situated, very cosy. However the central heating appears to be a problem as it's inaccessible to visitors!

Anchor House is a well maintained, clean, welcoming, well equipped holiday stay. It lacks for nothing in making the location a perfect place to stay in Appledore. We greatly enjoyed our stay there and would happily stay there again. A lot of thought and effort has gone into this holiday let and it has paid off

Anchor House is very comfortable with more than enough of everything you may need. The wood burner was a plus for us on a windy day when we decided to have a day in front of the fire. Would definitely stay again.

Appledore is a beautiful village and a lovely base for exploring the north Devon coast. However, I can't recommend this cottage. Superb location and what a charming, quirky cottage! There were 2 vases of fresh flowers when we arrived and all the makings of a cream tea for the 4 of us. We loved the cosy feel to the place with all the niknaks and a lot of books to read if wanted. Unloading and loading the car in Irsha Street was OK and only a short walk up Myra Court to carry Read morethe gear. We always managed to park for free opposite the church which was a 2-3minute walk to the house. All in all a superb cottage & location. Hide
