Set on the shore and just 2 miles from the popular coastal village of Port William, this sea-view stone cottage offers the perfect base for couples and small families planning adventures across Dumfries and Galloway. Stride out on a waterside walk to Port William, a Scottish gem known for its rich maritime history, colourful harbour, scenic walking trails, and abundant local wildlife. More coastal scenery and wildlife can be enjoyed across the wider Machars Peninsula, while Monreith Bay (4 miles) is the place to go for seal spotting, rock pooling, and caving. After combing the shoreline, uncover the local history with a visit to Barsalloch Fort, an Iron Age fort that overlooks the beach. More Scottish history awaits in the royal burgh of Whithorn (10 miles), Scotland's earliest Christian settlement, and the fascinating ruins of Glenluce Abbey (13 miles).

Before entering this welcoming cottage, take a moment to savour its historic stone exterior and the coastal and rural views that set the scene for a memorable Scottish stay. Step inside and be greeted by a light and airy conservatory/diner that invites sea-view mealtimes and garden-view relaxation. Move through to the hallway and find the restful lounge which invites you to unwind after days of coastal adventure; sink into the soft seating, flick on the Smart TV, and bask in the glow of the open fire. The lounge leads through to a well-appointed kitchen with more water views – find all you need here to cook up holiday feasts. At the end of each day away, retire to a choice of two charming bedrooms: a super-king-size room and a double bedroom, both served by a family shower room.

Step outside each day to savour the coastal scenery and breathe in the salty air. Enjoy the choice of the enclosed front garden and the unenclosed side garden. The cottage was absolutely excellent and spotlessly clean- it had a well equipped kitchen and all the extras that you would need to keep it all clean and tidy. We would definitely come here again even with the 1000 mile round trip from Plymouth. Stunning sandy beaches to visit with the dogs - would highly recommend .

The cottage is perfect in almost every way. It is beautifully decorated and finished with a modern well-equipped kitchen (has a microwave, coffee machine, superb cooker, washing machine, fridge, and surface top freezer but surprisingly no dish washer. The bathroom is top spec with a great rain shower. There are also a small lounge, two bedrooms Read morewith large double beds, and a small conservatory (ideal for sundowners!) that doubles as a dining room. Only about twenty metres from the beach, the view from the large lawn or conservatory, out towards The Isle of Man and the Irish sea, is magical. Hide

Nice enough little cottage. View from small sunroom was lovely. Garden large and secure. Beware fast flowing stream and unfenced pond between cottage and caravan park should kids get out of the garden gate. Beach extremely rocky, no sand there. We had problems with tv and WiFi but by day 4 things were finally sorted. Should be resolved now for fuRead moreture guests but not great for our holiday. Local area is pleasant but not an awful lot to do. All in all was disappointed with this break and actually went home a day early which is a first for me. Hide
