The village boasts a short golf course, tennis court (free use available), small shops and two pubs, all within 1 mile. Visit Eggesford Forest, 2.5 miles, or RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal, both 14 miles. Why not relax at a hotel spa just 5 miles away with swimming, gym and treatments? The national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are both 20 miles in opposite directions, while the North Devon Coast is a 25-mile trip, where you can sample the many superb surfing beaches. The beautiful cathedral city of Exeter is also a 25-mile drive, where you can visit Gandy Street – rumoured to have inspired J. This beautiful wing of a large country house offers a chance to stay in a property of significant history. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a welcome pack that includes information on local attractions and places to eat. You’ll enter through the rear of the house, after passing through a cobbled courtyard where you will park. Once inside, there’s a spacious kitchen/diner which has been thoughtfully designed with quality quartz worktops and an island unit, ceramic flooring and a feature fireplace. It’s well equipped with an electric oven and induction hob, integrated combi microwave, large fridge/freezer, wine fridge and dishwasher. A large farmhouse table with seating and benches makes it easy for everyone to eat together, with French doors overlooking the garden. To the left of the front door is the utility with a washer/dryer, and extra storage and space, along with a downstairs WC. Heading through the modern kitchen is the light and airy lounge, which offers a grand retreat to relax in after a day’s exploring. The lounge has high ceilings, original coving and corbels, a feature fireplace giving ambience to the room, and large patio doors giving additional access to the garden. A smart TV, Amazon Alexa, Wii console and comfy corner sofa provide modern touches and plenty of seating for all. The winding staircase leading up from the lounge gives way to four spacious bedrooms and a family bathroom. The first of the rooms is a spacious super-king-size bedroom with views over the garden, a smart TV and en-suite shower and WC. Next, there is a super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into twin beds on request) also equipped with a smart TV and views over the garden. There’s a further super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into twin beds on request) with views over the courtyard, and lastly, a king-size room with an en-suite shower and WC. The family bathroom completes the accommodation with an impressive whirlpool bath, separate shower and WC. Underfloor heating is maintained throughout the entire property.

Stepping outside, the large garden situated at the back of the property is ideal for the whole family, with facilities for al fresco dining, BBQ and evening downtime with the hot tub just outside the French doors of the kitchen. Upon entering the garden through either set of French doors, you will be welcomed by a large patio area with garden furniture and wood fire pit for outdoor cooking. Enjoy the fully enclosed, spacious lawn surrounded by mature trees and shrubs, with its own historical monument, or enjoy the warming bubbles of the private hot tub. There is parking for up to four small cars.
