Set amongst the spectacular Brecon Beacons National Park and within easy reach of the River Usk and the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal, this Victorian cottage is an idyllic base for exploring. Ideally placed in rural splendour yet close to the A40, you can venture near and far to take in your majestic surroundings at leisure. For those that enjoy outdoor activities there's the Llangorse Activity Centre with its climbing wall and also Cantref Adventure Farm for younger children, both with pony trekking centres. You can hire a kayak and paddle along the nearby Brecon and Monmouth Canal. Cast your line to catch salmon and brown trout on the Usk, or hop on your bike and scale the rolling hills and scenic trails from a new perspective. Talybont-on-Usk is 2 miles away, where you can visit the reservoir and sample locally-brewed beer at one of the welcoming pubs, or visit the village shop and cafe.

Escape the elements as you step inside the cosy lounge, kicking off your boots and settling down on the sofas with a glass of wine. An open fire warms the room throughout, and you’ll be kept entertained by the selection of DVDs, games and books. The bijou-style kitchen/diner has everything you need to whip up light snacks or more elaborate suppers, best enjoyed around the table. Next, the downstairs shower room and a delightful twin offer a quiet sanctuary after the day’s adventures. A handy utility room with washing machine offers additional food preparation space. Leading from here is the stairway up to the first floor, with two further bedrooms - choose from a snug twin or a comfortable double.

Take your meals outside for dinner in the garden area, relaxing on the patio with a few drinks. Fire up the BBQ and sizzle up something special whilst the children play on the lawn, or sip your morning coffee and savour the sound of birdsong. There’s ample parking for two cars, and a plethora of scenic walks leading from your doorstep. On the nights you don’t feel like cooking, the nearest pub is a short 1.5-mile drive away, and you can pick up a few essentials at a small shop and post office just 2 miles away in Talybont village.

Lovely cottage located close to lots of great walks, rivers, pubs etc. and we had a brilliant time. Road noise and lack of view from the garden (very high hedge) were a bit of a shame, but we were out and about much of the time, and if it hadnt been so baking hot wed have shut the windows at night which would have been better.

The carpets are a bit tired..but as we were in and out in pouring rain I was glad they were not immaculate. I choice the cottage as I have mobility issues and find stairs difficult. So having a bedroom and bathroom downstairs was great. Unfortunately the only was into the house was down stairs to the garden and then up to the house. There iRead mores a step from the kitchen into the lounge. There is quite a lot of noise from the A40, so sitting outside isn't as relaxing as I hoped. The beds were comfy and the shower was ok. It is a private water supply to dont expect a power shower. I was fine with that. Hide

The cottage is in an amazing location, lots to do with local walks, towns and beautiful views! Very quiet location, lovely garden although not full enclosed on the side leading to the dual carriageway so our dog had to be on a lead when outside. The cottage is comfy and cosy with a lovely fire. Quite dated inside with furniture, soft furnishings anRead mored carpets etc needing updating. Was not as clean as we would have hoped, lots of stains, dust and dead insects on arrival. With some TLC this could be an amazing holiday home in a perfect location. Hide

Yes l would. For one thing,it is nothing like your photos, your photos must be old.Even if it had been good weather we wouldn't have been sitting in the garden,so overgrown with weeds.no directions to work oven so had to fry in the one and only frying pan.No bags for recycling but expected you to recycle.Couldnt even shower,so had to go a week till lRead more got home.I definitely wouldn't recommend this house. No logs, but central heating was ok,but no heating in downstairs bedroom which is where we slept.
