Delightful 18th Century former Mill House stands in truly idyllic surroundings within the owner’s grounds on the banks of the River Torridge. Nestled at the end of a tree lined drive the Mill House is the ideal choice for a romantic escape or a family holiday. By arrangement visitors can fly fish for trout and salmon on the stretch of the river which runs along side the property. The Mill House sits on the edge of the charming village of Black Torrington with its popular local pub, serving local produce. In the next village of Sheepwash is a post office and small convenience store, with another excellent pub with a rod room and fishing records. The Mill House is conveniently located to explore the breathtaking North Devon and North Cornish coastline with its numerous beaches, Bucks Mill and Westward Ho! or across the boarder into Cornwall there is Bude offering surfing and night clubs. Other leisure facilities such as golf, horse riding and attractions including RHS Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal, the Eden project can be easily reached. Alternatively, just relax at the property In heart of the Devon countryside where there is an abundance of birds and kingfishers are often seen and occasionally deer, otters and badgers and owls .

Stepping into the property on the ground floor, here you will find a utility room with a washing machine and a separate WC. Take the staircase up to the first floor to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with views out over the garden and river, this provides a comfortable place to relax after a day exploring with comfy seating, Smart TV and electric wood burner effect fire. The dining area seats four and the kitchen area is well-equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The bedrooms both on the first floor, one being a four poster double bed and the other two singles (which can be made into a super-king-size on request) both with TVs . Completing the accommodation is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Heading outside, there is a area where you can enjoy the hot tub; the area around is enclosed for children and dogs to play.  Truly amazing on a clear evening under the stars whilst enjoying a glass of wine. The garden and orchard along the river banks is available for you to wander. There are resident chickens in a large enclosure which often supply fresh organic eggs, two beautiful native Fell ponies - Fern and Venus, part of a breeding programme to restore their numbers and sometimes sheep graze in our fields. Please take care with children and pets due to the river at the bottom of the garden. Double door fridge/freezer available in the garage.  Space available for 2 cars and across the driveway is a traditional Devon longhouse .

  • Care must be taken with children and pets due to the river at the bottom of the garden

Kingsley Mill ( The mill house) was a lovely place to stay. Beautiful building and surrounding grounds lovely walks. The owners were really nice and welcoming and very accommodating above and behond . Myself and family had an amazing time there for 7 days .. We will 100% be going back again .

Well the forecast gave it as bad weather but it was a brilliant sunny weekend . The host we we met were very friendly and even had some very fresh eggs . The spa hot tub and area was private in fact we all caught the sun while in the hot tub. The cottage was very clean and tidy excellent facilities. The Black River Pub was only 10-15 minute walk Read more. Nothing was too much trouble when we did have problem with light but that was our problem not know which switch was where lol. Would recommend it was a place you could just chill out and unwind and get away from the rat race for awhile. Hide

Dressing gowns provided. Mattress has springs. Only fenced area is around the hot tub, that is private. Grass areas are strimmed or left to nature. Washing products are eco friendly. Beautiful rural setting, very friendly owners, hot tub was luxurious, fabulous walk along river and across fields. Highlights were feeding Chickens and friendly Turkey, watching lambs chasing each other, comfy beds, clean and tidy Cottage, Just perfect for us

Perfect countryside escape, lovely owners on site nearby to help with anything. The pubs nearby were brilliant, especially Black River! House was warm and cosy for our winter stay.

What a fantastic place if you want peace and a relaxing holiday. Clean, friendly and well equiped cottage with the host Pauline being so accommodating . If you are looking for a get away holiday this is the place for you, If you like wildlife we heard Wodpeckers, Owls and saw the wild deer in the next field behing us. Free to roam in the grounds foRead morer your walks without leaving the grounds of the cottage. And having said all that WiFi was available for those that can`t do without. It wad great Hide

Absolutely beautiful place to stay and so equipped with everything that it made it easy with 2 kids and 2 dogs in tow. A beautiful character filled home from home. The chickens were loved by the kids and the dogs were made to be so welcome. We will miss this one very much

We had an absolutely lovely time at kingsley mill, we wished we had booked a longer stay! Mike and Pauline are lovely people, very laid back and very accommodating. It was lovely also to be welcomed by there dogs Jazzy and Pops very friendly. When we arrived at the mill we had a lovely welcome pack for us and the dogs.
