The immediate area has much to offer including the magical 30-metre-high Whitelady Waterfall, and here you can walk through the gorge to Lydford village which offers a traditional Devon inn. You will also be perfectly placed to explore the whole of Dartmoor National Park, 'England’s last wilderness' teaming with myths, legends and mystery, on foot, bike or horseback - discover amazing far-reaching views, rugged tors to climb and wildlife aplenty. Just 8 miles away, Roadford lake is the South West’s largest lake for water sports and offers brown trout angling too. Other attractions accessible from here include the historic naval city of Plymouth where you can take a tour of the oldest gin factory in the UK and wander around the ever popular Barbican and Hoe, plus Buckland Abbey, Dartmoor Prison and Morwellham Quay.

Step inside this stunning property where first you'll find a spacious entrance hall with a beautiful flagstone floor which leads through to the ground floor accommodation. The furthest room is the fabulous sitting room which overlooks the garden, and boasts comfortable sofas arranged around an original inglenook fireplace which has a warming wood burner; a perfect place to relax after a day exploring. There is also a second less formal lounge, also offering the lovely feature of a wood burner, and this includes a TV/DVD. Located next to the sitting room is the perfectly presented dining room, boasting another gorgeous flagstone floor and also a DAB radio/iPod dock, and here is the perfect venue to gather everyone for a relaxed meal in the evening. From here, enter the superb kitchen, which is a keen cook's dream and includes a further dining area in the shape of a breakfast bar alongside a great selection of appliances including an AGA, double electric oven and hob, microwave, 2 fridge/freezers, separate wine cooler and also a dishwasher. Completing the offering on the ground floor, you will then discover the first of the stunning bedrooms: a twin room with a TV, French doors to outside, and an en-suite shower room with WC. Located in the en-suite is a useful utility cupboard with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Venturing up the stairs and onto the split-level first floor, you will find yourself on an impressively spacious galleried landing with a chair and selection of books, giving access to the rest of the bedrooms. All presented in a fabulous contemporary yet in keeping style, these bedrooms firstly include two king-size bedrooms, both boasting a TV and an en-suite shower room with WC. There are also three twin bedrooms, two of which include a TV. A lovely family bathroom with shower over bath and WC completes the first floor. There is also a further separate WC downstairs.

Outside, you will then discover a large garden waiting to be enjoyed -  this includes a spacious lawn with a croquet area, gravelled patio area, garden furniture and a fire pit with BBQ grill. It's the perfect place to dine alfresco during warm weather. The garden also boasts the fabulous feature of a hot tub, in which you can enjoy a dip after a moorland walk. In the barn (lit but unheated) enjoy a game of table tennis or pool.  Ask about hiring a couple of pizza ovens for the ultimate in alfresco cooking.  Ample private off-road parking is provided on the driveway.

We stayed here for one week with 6 adults and 6 children. The garden was perfect for the children, there is a large tarmac area where they could ride their bikes and a big lawn for ball games. There is also a pool table and table tennis table, We were extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the hot tub. Inside the beds were all comfortable and Read morethe showers worked perfectly. In the kitchen there was everything you could possibly need including 2 large fridges. It is in a truly lovely part of the world with plenty of places to visit and eat at. Hide

The cottage well equipped with plenty of extra crockery and cutlery. Very often there is only the bare minimum. There was even 2 kettles. With a cottage of this size for this number of people these extra considerations add to the enjoyment of the holiday and not one of always having to keep up with washing dishes! The beds were very comfortable. ANRead moreD everyone enjoyed the flapjacks Hide

There were 3 generations of family on our weekend break aged from 15 to 78. We all loved the house and grounds (even the teens). The house is lovely and cosy with the wood burners lit, a few drinks and games to play. Beds were warm and comfy too. We walked to the Whtelady Waterfall and next day to Brat Tor, both lovely walks suitable for all of us.Read more We are hoping to return soon. Thank you for a great weekend. Hide

Lovely place to stay for larger groups. Beautiful location waterfall, Dartmoor. Local to supermarkets etc. House is what youd expect from an older property but some parts were more modern than others. Plenty of space so that even at full capacity, you didnt feel on top of each other. Games room was enjoyed by the kids.
