Appletree Cottage is a charming, characterful and beautifully restored 17th Century listed cottage, nestled in the peaceful village of Westleston - just a short drive or cycle ride from the Suffolk coast. With a lovely positioning overlooking the village green in the heart of Westleton, Appletree Cottage is ideal for couples or small families looking for a relaxing self-catering stay or a base from which you can enjoy lots of exploring. The village itself offers a picturesque setting with stunning heathland walks on the doorstep, and cycle rides through woodland towards the coastal village of Dunwich (just 2.5 miles). A large village green lies just over the road from the cottage and offers a perfect spot to enjoy a picnic in the sunshine, and just a little further along is a large adventure play park – great for the younger members to let off some steam. The RSPB Minsmere Reserve, just 2 miles away, is a must visit during your stay, it’s the ideal place for those who enjoy a spot of birdwatching or exploring local fauna and flora, but equally makes a great day out for families too. The village of Westleton boasts two lovely pubs and a village shop, all within easy walking distance of the cottage. Nearby coastal favourites, Southwold and Aldeburgh, with their wonderful array of shops, cafes, and restaurants, are just a 15 minute drive in either direction.

A truly traditional and cosy chocolate box cottage, the original features have been restored to their former glory to provide a warm and welcoming self-catering stay for couples or small families. Brimming with charm, the cottage boasts exposed wooden beams, an inglenook feature fireplace, and original brick flooring. Upstairs, the 2 bedrooms – a king size and a twin (which can combine to make a king, if required) await ready for you to recharge after a busy day exploring the coast. Upstairs is completed by a family bathroom and a laundry room. The south-facing garden is deceptively spacious and provides the perfect spot to enjoy the sunshine with a morning coffee and later, early evening gin & tonics followed by a barbeque surrounded with family and friends. The outside space is sure to be a firm favourite with children and dogs, with ample space to run around. Comfortable and welcoming with traditional cottage living, this self-catering holiday home ticks all the boxes for a truly peaceful coastal escape.

Excellent cottage in an ideal location. The back garden is a lovely peaceful spot. Early in the morning and late afternoon there is quite a bit of traffic on the road past the cottage which is a little noisy but it would not stop me staying there again.

This cottage is definitely a step back in time! Cosy, with everything you need. Stairs are steep. Cottage is on road side and a little noisy in mornings. Great secure garden for dog, sadly too cold to sit out. The location is just so perfect to visit everywhere. Pub serves great food. This was a short break but we loved it, and will return.

Lovely unpretentious property with lovely garden. In a lovely location for dogs- great garden- gate leads to common across the road- with access to bridle path and fields- doggy heaven. The cottage was well equipped and cosy. Enjoyed stay - just needs more attention to detail with cleaning

We enjoyed 2 relaxing nights away in this lovely cosy cottage. The bedding and towels were spotless, the bed very comfy and we slept well. There is some road noise during the day but it is to be expected given the location of the cottage. At night time, there was silence. We will definitely return.

I would rate this property at the very low end of a 3 star rating. First impressions were of a lovely and very old little cottage with tons of original features as you would expect. But when you start looking it needs more love and care given to it.

Whilst this cottage is in a good location it is very small even by cottage standards and is not comfortable for four persons (the second bedroom is particularly small). The standard of pre-arrival cleaning was also not very good.
