Nice cottage. Good location with walks from cottage. There is a lot of gravel all around property which our older dogs found painful to walk on. Nice grassy area further over tho .

Lovely well equipped property. Lindsey and Ben were great hosts, always on hand to accommodate any requests and make our stay enjoyable. We had a really relaxing week and would definitely recommend a stay at Root cottage.

The property was good but not very private with all the windows facing to the front. Because of this our dogs barked a lot on seeing other people and cars.

We had a lovely break on this beautiful location. The games room was great for our multi generation group. The fresh eggs on arrival were a real treat. We would love to come back again as there is so much to explore and it was a relaxing break.

A lovely set of cottages in a beautiful part of North Devon. Umberleigh is a rarity in having its own rail station where you have to flag down trains running between Exeter and Barnstaple and there are lots of lovely walks from the property. The new owners are doing a good job in a short time and we enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely 3 day stay for my mother's 90th birthday. Although not completely accessible (no shower that my mother could use), being all on one level really helped. Thankfully the weather was really good for most of our time there so we made use of the outside area and bbq. Also, having dogs with us it was great to have an enclosed area to let Read morethem out in and a dog walk on site. Hide

An amazing stay at Root house in umberleigh. This gem of accommodation is so spectacular, clean, full of space and packed with all the essentials. The three dogs were in their element with all the lovely walks near by. Root House is positioned in a quiet village but a short drive to all places. Very Very highly recommend. We will definitely be backRead more. Hide

Absolutely perfect pet friendly cottage. Very clean everything needed was already provided. Nice quiet location. The secure courtyard was a huge bonus, no need to get dressed late at night or first thing to take the dogs for a walk just open the door. Our host was amazing too always available but not intrusive. We will definitely be returning.

Spotlessly clean and roomy. Underfloor heating an asset on cooler wet days. Friendly owners on sight so any queries solved quickly. Dogs very welcome.
