Part of the Forest Park group, this enchanting property offers handy access to its on-site shop, bar and restaurant (1 mile) for times when you don’t fancy going too far. The glorious coast calls loud here, with Cromer and its seafood, pier and seaside vibe just 2 miles away. Any dogs or kids in your group will adore the huge sandy expanse of beach: walk 2 miles south to Overstrand, or 1.5 miles north to East Runton. Sheringham is further around and north (6.5 miles by coast road); try sea swimming after a mobile sauna or hop on the North Norfolk Railway – also known as the Poppy Line – which runs from Sheringham to the attractive town of Holt. If you fancy a sand-free attraction, then Felbrigg Hall (4.5 miles) is a National Trust property offering an historic house, gardens and a large estate, complete with woods and a lake.

Any group of friends or family are in for a relaxing treat at this beautiful dog-friendly property, just 0.5 miles on foot from the nearest beach. All set on one floor, you’ll enter via the bright entrance lobby. There’s a useful WC here and a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The spacious open-plan living area leads off the entrance lobby, too. The elegant lounge has comfortable seating around a wood burner, with a dining room easily seating eight next door. Leading off from here is the delightful sunroom, serving as another lounge when the sun is out and opening onto the garden and patio. A stylish kitchen has all mod cons for holiday catering, with garden views through its large window. The remaining two bedrooms lead off the lounge; one twin and one super-king-size, both with en-suites. The super-king has French doors leading onto the exterior decking.

Look out for deer in this secluded setting that is teeming with wildlife. The enclosed garden gives a real sense of privacy with a couple of steps up to the lawned areas and mature trees. There’s a furnished decked area and even a sauna and a hot tub for stargazing or admiring the wide blue sky during the day. Three cars can comfortably park off-road here, making loading and unloading less of a hassle.

We had a wonderful stay at Forest Lodge: There were six of us staying for 7 days, 2 young children, their parents and grandparents plus a dog. All the rooms were spacious and the 2 master bedrooms opened onto the enclosed decking where we had the benefit of an outside hot shower and hot tub which were a great hit for all of us every day. ( The saunRead morea looked brand new but we didnt get round to using it). These two rooms are on-suite and the third bedroom is situated at the other side of the bungalow near the front door. This has a shower room on-suite and an WC adjacent to the bedroom entrance door. The large modern kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and welcome provisions were gratefully received. All other areas including bedrooms had flat screen tvs. The open plan summer room, dining area and lounge worked well. As the weather was kind to us towards the end of August we used the summer room during most of our down time. The scrolling art work on the large lounge screen was a nice touch. The plot in which the bungalow sits is huge and very private and benefits from being entirely enclosed which was reassuring for keeping our border collie on site. Forest Lodge is well placed for exploring the area around Cromer and beyond. We had a great time on sandy beaches at Wells and West Runton, crabbing off Cromer pier and Wells harbour , visiting Priory Gardens, Sherringham, Felbrigg Hall and during a couple of evenings fishing with the kids down at Overstrand beach only 1.5 miles away. We popped into the Forest Park shop to get ice creams for the kids and if were staying longer we would have made use of the Park facilities more ( only a couple of minutes away). Overall, a brilliant holiday. We were also impressed that the manage of the site was keen to receive any suggestions about further improvements as we were only the fourth group to hire the bungalow since it was fully renovated. We loved our stay at Forest Lodge. A very quiet and private location with lots of nature to observe. The surroundings and the Lodge itself were beautiful. We had a lovely welcome bottle of Prosecco and tea and coffee, even treats and toys/blankets for our dogs, which we thought was a nice touch. The hot tub and sauna were great and really made ourRead more stay better than anywhere we have stayed before. The house was nicely decorated with plenty of furniture and comfortable for 6 adults. Its in a great location close to the camping site, we visited a couple of times, and the beach down the road with a cafe and pub and tasty food. The kitchen was well equipped, everything was new and in great working order. We would 100 percent book here again. Hide

A lovely holiday in a beautiful cottage. One problem for dog owner is that the bar gate at the edge of the property is accessible for dogs to escape,
