This area is steeped in history; you can explore the ancient towns and villages and castles at Ludlow and Stokesay, or if you have time, there are many National Trust houses and gardens to explore. Ludlow and the surrounding South Shropshire countryside is also an ideal cycling area. Often referred to as ‘mini-Switzerland’, the beautiful hilly countryside includes the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that has many quiet country lanes, forest areas and planned routes to suit cyclists of all abilities. There are numerous local events throughout the year that involve food, music, and crafts. This is also an area well known for its excellent restaurants and pubs, many serving locally sourced produce. A visit to the Ludlow Farmshop is a must if you’re venturing out on a picnic, whilst those of you sporting plus fours will be happy to know that some of the most stunning golf courses in the country are nearby, namely Church Stretton and Kington.

The property itself is a traditional old barn conversion that reflects its rural surrounding whilst also offering the extreme comfort of modern-day living. Internally, there is a very well-equipped kitchen offering an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Connected to the kitchen is the cosy lounge with an electric fire, where double doors open out onto the terrace so you can take advantage of the stunning easterly views over Clee Hill in the distance before settling down to watch some of your favourite programmes on the TV. There is a comfortable double bedroom on the ground floor with a direct door to the garden and an en-suite shower room with a shower and WC. On the first floor, there is the master bedroom with its super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request) and there is an adjoining bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, there is a large private garden with a dedicated seating area and charcoal BBQ. There is off-road parking for two cars and storage for bikes. On the estate, there are numerous tracks and bridle paths to enjoy. The garden has very recently been properly enclosed to be dog proof and we will update photos to show this very soon.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 super-king zip-and-link (that can be made into twin beds on request when booking)
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 bathroom with rainfall shower over bath and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, Nespresso Krups coffee machine, dishwasher and washer/dryer
  • Smart TV in lounge with Netflix access
  • Garden set to lawn
  • Outdoor hose for dog washing
  • Off-road parking for 2 cars
  • Please note, dogs are not permitted upstairs
  • Access to a private woodland walk on the estate, approx. 4km.
  • Pub and shop 3 miles
  • Mobility/Wheelchair access: gravel drive leading to brick walk-way surround, door thresholds, down-stairs bedroom with shower (raised tray)
  • Occasional countryside sounds of chickens and a cockerel from a neighbouring field
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

A nice cottage but fell slightly short of expectations. Felt a bit small, especially the kitchen, with 4 adults and two dogs. Lovely garden - shame about the smell.

Cottage location was good and overall we were happy with our stay. Beds snd bedding of good quality but one sofa needs replacing and a few more item in the kitchen would be useful. We really enjoyed our stay at Sybil's Cottage. The cottage is well-equipped and cosy. An excellent location for walking. We especially enjoyed the woodland walk on the private estate accessible from the cottage. A good-sized garden for our two dogs to run around in. This is a beautiful cottage, renovated to a very high standard with quality fittings throughout. The beds were very comfortable and with everything provided for an enjoyable stay. Nice country cottage for a short break, well equipped kitchen and beautiful towels and linens. Well suited for dogs and proximity to Ludlow. Landlord very communicative and helpful. As noted in other reviews, seating in front room not as comfortable as could be to read or relax. Great water pressure, WiFi and tv.

Great last minute find for 2 of us with a reactive dog. Secure enough garden for us (not for jumpers) and quiet lanes for walks. Thoroughly recommend.

All in all a lovely cottage in a pleasant location. The state of the roads leading to and from the cottage are deplorable however but that is not anything the cottage owners can controll but it did cause issues. Once roads are upgraded this will be a lovely place to stay
