I found myself holidaying alone because the rest of the family were called in (military/MOD). I expected to rattle around in a cottage this large, but not so. The layout was such that even with so many rooms it still felt cosy.

Forge cottage is in a perfect location backing onto the canal. The house was very clean and very well equipped and spacious. We found the downstairs to be comfortable and were happy to return at the end of the day. The village is lovely too, with a handy little shop and a great cafe nearby. The only issue we had was with the beds, we found them Read moreto be uncomfortable, we could feel the springs in the mattress.

Forge Cottage is within a 10 minute drive of the charming town of Brecon and just a pretty 20-30 minute walk along the canal to two pubs and a cafe/post office/shop (or two minutes in the car!). That makes the location wonderful for a relaxed holiday. The views from the kitchen and dining room are stunning. And the sitting room is super comfortableRead more for a family movie night or game night. The extra room over the entrance was a welcome hide-away for the married couple on our holiday-with-grandma! This is a sweet cottage in a nice location overlooking the canal. Easy access to the Brecon Beacons. Sadly the standard of the cottage was disappointing - we had no hot water for 3 days and the fridge froze everything. This took the edge off the holiday.

Lovely cottage in a brilliant location. It was really fun watching the barges going past the end of the garden and also so nice being able to walk to the village along the tow path.
