Plan an exciting getaway to this Grade II-listed cottage set in the upmarket centre of Ludlow, and surrounded by similar heritage properties. Ludlow is an architectural gem, situated above the River Teme in scenic south Shropshire, and is busy throughout the year with events and festivals. These events celebrate food, arts, crafts, and theatre – the town’s showcase festival is the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival held every September. Popular walks include the Mary Webb Trail, The Shropshire Way, the Mortimer Forest trails and the banks of the Long Mynd, or you could enjoy shorter strolls alongside the nearby river and around the medieval castle. Further afield, explore Stokesay Castle, Wenlock Priory and Severn Valley Railway.

Enter through a wooden gate and into the property’s pretty walled courtyard, enclosed by traditional brick and stone. Step inside, where the unique entranceway leads you directly up to the first floor. Here, a charming study awaits for hanging coats and boats. It’s beautifully furnished with a desk, a bookcase, and a couple of antique-style chairs. The next room you’ll come across on the first floor is the impressive lounge full of character features. It has a red-brick fireplace with a wood burner (ornamental only), thick beams overhead, artwork on the walls, plus comfortable seating, a view of the courtyard, and a TV. Downstairs on the ground floor, the kitchen offers a more contemporary space to hang out. Chic units and coordinating tiled walls all provide a stunning place to cook up meals, there’s a four-seater table, and there’s a utility cupboard with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, and a small freezer. For more formal dining, there is a dining room with a farmhouse-style table and chairs for four. Finally, there is a separate WC on the ground floor. When the day is done, climb the stairs to the second floor where you will find two beautifully finished bedrooms. The double bedroom has exposed beams and views of the oak-framed houses, with Clee Hill in the distance. The twin room also has exposed beams and charming rooftop views. There is a bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. Overall, this property is a real gem bursting with heritage.

Outside, the enchanting red-brick-walled courtyard garden has seating, well-stocked borders, plus lovely outdoor artworks such as painted tiles and a small sculpture. There is roadside parking, subject to availability, with a parking permit for one car.

Perfect place to stay in the middle of the town, with a caring & friendly owner. So comfortable and well maintained, I only wish the weather had been better for us to be able to enjoy the courtyard.

A beautiful, cosy cottage in a perfect location in Ludlow. Close to the market, castle, pubs and shops. A lovely patio garden. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely property in an excellent location for exploring Ludlow & surrounding areas. Very clean & quiet and the free parking was a welcome bonus. Great to be able to access pubs and restaurants on foot in the evenings and enjoy good food and a few pints. Owner is very welcoming and friendly. Dog friendly but bear in mind there is no grass in the gardRead moreen so if you have a fussy pup, you'll need to have plenty of walks (the park area by the castle is very close by for morning/evening businesses). Cottage was loverly . Extremely clean . Loverly bath towels and bedding good quality. Comfy sofa and bed . Parking was 5 mins away from cottage . The negatives for me are , think more kitchen equipment would be helpful eg grill pan for oven there was only 1 roasting tin . This cottage is in an excellent location right in the centre of Ludlow. The owner was welcoming. It was great to have a parking permit and we were able to find a parking space close by each day, a real bonus. The cottage was warm and comfortable, ideal for a winter visit.

Over the years I have rented a number of holiday homes but this must be the best one ! The cottage is extremely well located and within easy reach of shops restaurants etc . The place itself is absolutely beautiful and very spacious - it even has a reading room ! The kitchen is a good size and has all the necessary appliances thus making meal timesRead more easy. We certainly hope to return in the near future . Hide

Lovely cottage and location. Only problem is parking is an issue if events are taking place in town or at the castle.
