Amenities including farm shop, delicatessen, general grocers, post office, several cafes and charming pubs are all close by. There are many walking routes from the village, which is nestled at the entrance to Edale, between Win Hill and Lose Hill. Challenging hills, gentle paths following winding rivers and options to follow the ancient packhorse routes and medieval footways. Explore the local area; the picture postcard village of Castleton with its famed Blue John caverns, Norman Keep and other attractions is nearby. This village boasts six country pubs and several cafes, as well as jewellery and gift shops. Close by is Hathersage, with its Bronte connections, striking moorlands and gritstone ridgelines. Also, the three Derwent reservoirs including Ladybower and its connections with the WWII Dambusters preparations. And, of course the beautiful Chatsworth House estate and the historic village of Eyam. Unusually for the  Peak District Hope benefits from its own railway station on the scenic Sheffield to Manchester line.

Stepping into the cottage, the beautiful living room welcomes you with open arms, with its own special ambience, boasting a feature stone fireplace with a delightful wood burner. It’s the perfect place to unwind on the comfortable sofa warmed by the glow of the fire and perhaps watching something on the Smart TV. There is also a dining table and chairs for meals. The well thought out kitchen is fully equipped and includes integrated appliances such as an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave. It is a pleasure to cook or just enjoy a snack and have a drink while sitting at the oak-topped breakfast bar. There are two bedrooms, one with a super-king-sized bed in a bright and airy room. The other is a standard size double in a charming room with unique features. A bright and airy bathroom provides the option of an invigorating shower or relaxing bath, ideal if you like a long soak after a day exploring the glorious Peak District.

Outside there a small courtyard with seating, ideal for a morning coffee or evening drinks. There is free roadside parking outside the cottage.

I have recently returned from a week's stay at Bobbin Cottage. It was a brilliant base, perfect for the local transport and for getting in food supplies without the car (farm shop a few doors up, Spar, a deli and various cafes). There were also many walks from the door. The cottage was very well presented with a well equipped kitchen, a very comfRead moreortable bed in the main bedroom, good heating and a shower that was a joy. It was helpful to have a few maps to look at. Pity about the weather (unseasonally cold), but the cottage was certainly a good find. Hide

Bobbin Cottage is a bright and cosy, beautifully located home-from-home. It seems to have been recently refurbished and is impeccably clean and modern, with an excellent shower. Perfect for exploring the peaks, many walks start on the doorstep of the cottage. Before we even left we were planning to return. We didn't even need a car, which made the Read morestay even more relaxing and special. Hide

Wonderful, homely cottage that looks like it has been recently renovated. Everything was in good clean condition. The location was perfect to do walks from the doorstep. Have already recommended to friends and if we return to this area we would definitely book again.
