The lodge is situated in the Wye Valley National Landscape, on the fringes of Goodrich (1 mile) which is renowned for its 13th-century castle and the popular Coppett Hill trail. Enjoy afternoon drinks at the local pub, 1 mile away, which can be accessed over farmland via a gate at the end of the garden. Local activities include canoeing, fishing, cycle trails, rock climbing and many miles of footpaths. You may wish to visit the Forest of Dean (9 miles) and take a steam train ride through spectacular scenery or visit the filming locations of Harry Potter and Star Wars. Nearby are the historical towns of Ross-on-Wye (7 miles) with its 17th-century market house and Monmouth (6.5 miles), the birthplace of King Henry V. The cathedral city of Hereford (21 miles) offers an array of shops and restaurants.

This open-plan lodge is situated above a private garage for parking your car and is large enough to store mountain bikes and canoes. There are additional storage units and a small freezer for your stay. The stairs from the garage lead you into your accommodation where your holiday truly begins. Perfectly situated below the window is a breakfast bar where you can enjoy a meal or a drink whilst enjoying the undisturbed panoramic view. There is a wood burner and a comfortable reclining sofa to watch the Smart TV or continue to enjoy the views. The well-designed kitchen is equipped for all your catering needs. A cedar sliding door takes you into the double bedroom with a hanging rail and drawer space. From the window, there are more views of the rolling countryside. The en-suite bathroom is stylishly tiled throughout.

From the living room, you will step into ‘The Garden Room’, a thoughtful extension to the property boasting additional seating for you to enjoy the verdant views from the triple-aspect windows while you take time out together. From here, a door leads to the private secluded garden where you can dine alfresco as they cook on the pizza oven or BBQ. For the cooler evenings, there is a chiminea with seating allowing you to enjoy the outside for longer.

We had a lovely few days away. The property was very clean and well equipped. To potential guest, the recommendation of food at the Cross Keys was really good. Dont judge a book by its cover. The walk through the field behind was great for a starting point to walks.

Poplands Lodge is beautiful. The views across the River wye are lovely and the enclosed garden was perfect for ourselves and our dog to relax in. The cottage was decorated and equipped to a very high standard. We would have no hesitation in staying here again.

This property was very clean and care taken in the fixtures and fittings. The recycling in the garage was good. A lovely location for humans and doggies with far reaching views from the living area. As far as we could tell the garden is fully enclosed. Parking could be tricky if you are unable to use the garage, which we couldnt as we had a roof boRead morex on the car. Luckily no one was using the adjoining parking for the cottage next door. Unfortunately we spent a fair amount of time indoors due to poor weather and found the living and dining furniture to be a little uncomfortable for long periods. Hide

Beautiful property, location excellent for us. Lovely walks right from the door. Wildlife in abundance. Bird watchers heaven - nuthatch and woodpecker on feeder whilst drinking your morning coffee. Mandarin ducks, goosander and much more whilst walking the local area. Overall a very enjoyable week and we shall be returning for sure.

Excellent, lodge, very clean and comfortable. Fabulous views towards West Symons Yat. Watching the birds on the feeders from the garden room was an absolute joy. Great location for walking routes, to a couple of local pubs nearby and for shops in Ross on Wye and other towns. Great lodge would definitely like to stay again!

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, well equipped and nicely decorated. Very secure garden for our border terrier. Beautiful view from the living room window. Lovely walks around the area. The Cross Keys did an excellent takeaway Sunday lunch. Good phone and internet coverage for those who like to stay in touch.

Holiday was brilliant.The lodge was clean as a new pin ,everything was really tidy and welcolming.It looked as if it had recently been decorated and the views were to die for.Everything that you need is there,tea coffee ,salt,pepper all utensils and cutlery,towels tea,towels ,washing up and cleaning items.I could go on for ever.A garage for the carRead more.All in all the place of dreams and only a few minutes drive to Ross on Wye,Symonds Yat and Monmouth.Book it now. Such a great location with a short walk across a field to a great local pub. The Lodge was beautiful very cosy and all to a high standard. we had an amazing stay. Note: Local pubs do not serve food Monday or Tuesdays and dogs cannot be left at all in the Lodge.

We had a lovely week at the lodge, it was cosy, we especially enjoyed having a cup of tea in the garden room sitting watching the birds feeding. For us it was the perfect location as we could enjoy some scenic walks straight from the lodge without having to go out in the car, we did venture further afield on some days, plenty of places close by witRead morehout travelling to far. We had a wonderful stay at Poplands the Lodge. The cottage is beautifully designed, down to the tiniest detail. The owners really have thought of everything. The cottage has amazing views and is in a fabulous location with great local pubs. Our dog loved the garden and we had great fun using the pizza oven. The Lodge is in a perfect location with the river a short walk away. Easter get away in great location. spotless and even the weather was on our side. We will return as cottage was perfect for us and the sausage dog. Garden secure and walks galore on doorstep. Even new pub opened in Goodrich whilst we were there. New Garden room ads even more! Perfect.

The Lodge was perfectly situated, surrounded by fields and wonderful views. The garden is a delight as a wide variety of birds are encouraged to visit with the multiple hanging feeders. Absolutely impeccable. You have the forest of dean and coppert hill on your doorstep and fields and pubs that you can access from the gardens back gate. Ross on wye is only a 10-15 minute drive to. The lodge is beautifully decorated, spotless and beyond equipped. They have everything you could need, down to a spare dog lead. You can tell no expenseRead more has been speared. The lodge is modern and functional located within 2 minutes of peaceful walks along the Wye Valley. The Cross Keys pub which is welcoming and serves good food and is only 10 minutes walk across the field. You can also take a short walk to Goodrich Castle.
