Popular Tansley village is nestled on the edge of the Peak District, next to the market town of Matlock, the perfect base to enjoy tranquillity and to explore the Peak District. Nearby Bakewell, Chatsworth and Matlock Bath are easily accessible by car. There are lovely country walks from the cottage itself and several wonderful pubs within a five minute walk. Matlock has a large variety of shops, supermarkets, a launderette, cafes, restaurants, pubs, indoor swimming pool, weekly market and parks. Matlock Bath is a well-known resort on the river with fish and chips, cable cars and numerous entertainment.

Step along the stepping stone path which leads into the spacious kitchen/diner. Together the electric range style oven and hob, underfloor heating, smeg fridge, washing machine and dishwasher which provide you with everything you need for a home away from home stay. There is also a farmhouse kitchen table which is the perfect spot for a lazy breakfast. The large lounge boasts a wood burner, comfortable sofas, Smart TV/DVD, and big glass windows to overlook the fields opposite, ideal for relaxing with a cuppa after a hard day exploring. Head upstairs to the spacious master bedroom with original beams for character and charm and a super-king-size bed (which can be made into twin on request). The bedroom window overlooks a cattle shed and calves can be seen at certain times of the year, if you are lucky. There is a further twin bedroom (which can be made into king-size upon request). Both bedrooms feature charming stone window seats which bring the outside in. The stylish bathroom has a shower over bath and WC.

To the front of the property is a gravelled area with a garden table and chairs, which lends itself as a great spot for dining alfresco. There is off-road parking for two cars

Despite the rainy weather, my wife, toddler and I enjoyed a lovely holiday at this accommodation. It is perfectly situated for exploring the Peak District with nearby gems such as the Monsal Trail, Dovedale, Lathkill Dale, and Chatsworth House. The owners were very generous and left us beautiful handmade soap, a delicious victoria sponge cake, oranRead morege juice, and a bottle of fresh milk from their farm. My only small niggle was the TV wasnt smart as advertised (it had no built in apps). Would happily stay here again. Hide

We stayed here for 4 nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage had everything we needed, and more. Location is perfect for getting into Matlock, Bakewell etc. We had the pleasure of doing a tour round the farm (thank you Kim) and had a good giggle with George (Dean misses you already). Had a great much needed short weekend break. Lovely cottage and a delicious cake waiting for us on arrival. Very quick visit and stay, easy access to Matlock and lots of great walks. We had an excellent break at Rolling Mill Cottage. The cottage was comfortable, well equipped and spacious. We were welcomed with fresh flowers and a tasty home made cake. It's a working dairy farm so at this time of year wellies are essential! The location is excellent with great walks, two good pubs and attractions nearby. The walk to the pub iRead mores downhill. What a lovely place, so clean, warm and welcoming. A homemade cake left for us to enjoy as well as some fresh milk from the dairy and freshly cut flowers. Beautiful, comfortable and spacious cottage. Milk and orange juice in the fridge, fresh flowers on the table and a homemade cake all waiting for us. Very comfortable beds and a super shower. The Ship Inn just down the road serves super meals.

The accommodate was clean and airy with everything we needed. For us, however, the situation was unsuitable as too far from pub and village to walk, especially with a buggy along country road with no lighting or pavement. Probably not for young children but excellent if you need a base for walking.

I'm afraid to say that we were a bit disappointed. We rented the cottage in the middle of July. The day we arrived it was 32 degrees, but duvet on the double bed was a 13.5 tog. The outside furniture only consisted of a two seater settee and two other chairs - no dining table, or indeed any parasol - so no protection from the sun. Also, the cushionRead mores had been left out and the furniture was covered in cobwebs and was quite dirty. There weren't any basic cleaning materials for the kitchen. Hide

Lovely well equipped cottage. Two large bedrooms which the owner had kindly set up as king size beds at our request but could also be singles. Had lovely stay at this cottage on a farm - owners very welcoming with tulips, fresh milk and cake. The cottage was clean and comfy and lovely to sit out in the evenings in the sun. We had a fantastic stay at Rolling Mill! Kim and George are lovely hosts, helpful and kind. My husband enjoyed milking the cows and learning about life as a dairy farmer!
