Refurbished detached stone property set in the pretty small town of Alston. The town dates back to the 17th Century and is the highest in England, around 1,000 feet above sea level. The train station is England’s highest narrow-gauge railway and is the starting point for the South Tynedale Railway. You can also join the Pennine Way walking trail from Alston or jump in the car onto the A686, one of the AA Magazine’s ‘Ten Great Drives’. Those with a sense of adventure can embark on a long, steep climb up Hartside Fell (29 miles), which also forms part of the Coast-to-Coast Cycle Route. If you are looking for relaxation, enjoy the private hot tub in the enclosed garden while listening to bird song.

You can enter the property, either from the front door into a small lobby where there is a handy WC or through the side door, directly into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This room is tiered with one step down from the kitchen area and three steps from the dining area into the lounge. The lounge is bright and spacious with a lovely arch window, wall mounted Smart TV and wood burner set in an elevated stone fireplace with wooden mantle. There are patio doors from the dining area out onto the enclosed garden with patio and decking. There is a cupboard off the kitchen which has a washing machine. Head through into the lobby from the kitchen, and up the stairs to the first floor. Here you will find three en-suite bedrooms, two super-king-size bedrooms and a twin bedroom perfect for the children, all featuring wall-mounted Smart TVs.

The enclosed garden is accessed from the dining room where you will find a small patio directly outside, a raised decking area with table and seats and a private hot tub with views over the field and fells. It offers a real suntrap on a nice day and is a great place to read a good book or enjoy a morning coffee.

Absolutely wonderful cottage. The best beds we've slept in away from home. The bed linen was fabulous . Everything we needed was there. We took our dog. Beware of the loose chickens on arrival, but once in the property, the garden is completely secure, unless you have a dog that can clear a 5 foot natural stone wall ! Owners moved their pet sheep, Read moreso we were able to use their field. Great walks. Local pub the Cimberland was really friendly. Recommend drive out to Hexam. Highly recommended Hide
