Set within the rolling hills of Northumberland, this former blacksmith's shop offers a quality retreat on a traditional working farm at High Staward. Ideal for couples or small groups seeking adventure in the countryside for a weekend getaway, the location provides excellent access to walking routes and cycling spots. Just a few miles away, you can find the Roman fort sites of Housesteads and Vindolanda, along with impressive sections of Hadrian's Wall that remain intact. The historic market town of Hexham is a short distance away, offering a variety of shops, eateries, and regular markets.

The converted blacksmith's shop welcomes guests through arched patio doors, leading into a kitchen area that retains original beams and rustic features. The country cottage-style kitchen comes fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and tumble dryer, alongside a dining table perfect for enjoying home-cooked meals. The lounge features a large corner sofa, wall-mounted Smart TV, and a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings in. The accommodation offers two bedrooms - one king-size and one twin that can be converted to a super-king upon request - plus a shower room with WC. Both bedroom and bathroom facilities are conveniently located on the ground floor.

The private patio area provides outdoor seating where guests can enjoy countryside views and their own hot tub - a perfect spot for relaxation after a day of adventures. The property offers on-site parking with electric vehicle charging available at additional cost.

Loved the cottage very cosy had everything we needed everything spotless including the hot tub , host was very helpful we stayed 4 nights Ev charging made it easier for us also Very quiet area but easy drives to attractions

We had the most incredible time at this cottage as a family of four over Easter. The hosts were kind and obliging and the cottage was beautifully finished. The location was far enough away to feel secluded, whilst also having easy accessibility to local towns and activities. We loved our stay. The cottage was finished to a really high standard, clean and well kept, plus wonderfully warm and welcoming. The underfloor heating was such a treat, as was the lovely fire and very relaxing and private hot tub. The location is beautiful and quiet. We were very happy customers.

A very nice lodge with the character of the name Blacksmiths Shop very nice to have items from it's previous life built-in and underfloor heating toasty on the feet. Very peaceful with a lot to see and do in the area

A beautiful building well converted and really comfortable. Trying to be constructive and not critical there was a small niggle that could be avoided. Even with just two of us there was nowhere in the bathroom for personal items. Just a shelf and a couple of hooks on the door would be perfect. Beautifully renovated cottage with some original features. Comfortable beds ensured a good night's sleep. Underfloor heating was a bonus. We really enjoyed the hot tub. Kitchen equipped with everything you would need. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful stay at the Blacksmith shop, it had everything we needed, loved the hot tub and log burner in the property, we loved our visits from the Dog and cat this is the 2nd visit at this property, I stayed in the bigger proper a few years ago

Great place to stay for a holiday, we were there for a few days but could have stayed much longer. The blacksmiths building history and tools were a great touch and the hot tub gave it the extra special feel. Fab views and location is good to easily get to the Pennines and Hadrians Wall. Would defo return.

The cottage is an authentic and innovative conversion of an old Blacksmith Shop which definitely has the "wow" factor as you walk into the very contemporary kitchen with top of range equipment & utensils. The Hot Tub is very private and the picnic table affords gorgeous countryside views with lots of visits from the owners very friendly cat .overalRead morel very peaceful and relaxing. Hide
