Property code: OC-91245

A charming, single-level, detached cottage nestled on the edge of a leading fishing complex in the sleepy little rural village of Sessay, 6 miles from Thirsk, this property sits in a perfect touring location for discovering North Yorkshire. With the gateway to the North York Moors National Park to the east and Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west, there are plenty of things to see and do within easy reach. Nearby Thirsk (6 miles) boasts a quaint marketplace, splendid Georgian buildings, a Norman church and excellent pubs, shops, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. The cathedral city of York (21 miles) is within easy driving distance, making Sessay a lovely little rural escape to return to after a busy day of exploring. A lovely drive up Sutton Bank takes you to Rievaulx Abbey (15 miles) or continue on to the pretty town of Helmsley (16 miles), whilst a little further will bring you to the dramatic Yorkshire coastline.

Upon arrival, you will find off-road parking and a generous rear patio garden and a well-kept front garden. Unload your car and head inside from the rear into a handy vestibule where you can leave muddy boots and coats, great for when you return from a walk. Venture in the generously sized kitchen/diner, perfectly light and airy, where you can rustle up and enjoy long, leisurely meals over a bottle of wine with your company. The kitchen is well equipped to create large family feasts, so gather round the table and plan your holiday itinerary or get a board game out for a game night. After dinner, meander through to the delightful south-facing lounge, which catches the sunlight all day long. Sit back and relax on the deep sofas, warmed by the heat of the wood burner and watch a family favourite on the Smart TV. After a day of exploring, enjoy a soak in the bath or freshen up in the walk-in shower, before retiring to one of three beautifully decorated bedrooms: two super-king-sized (one being zip-and-link which can be made into a twin bedroom upon request) and a twin room (which can be made into a super-king upon request). Completing the accommodation is a convenient separate cloakroom.

Outside the property is a rear garden, the perfect place for relaxing in the sunshine with a morning coffee before heading off for the day. The Oaks Lakes have 10 lakes with over 400 pegs, a large cafe, and a tackle shop.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Quiet and peaceful. Neighbours extremely kind and helpful. Hosts quick to answer queries. Lovely beds (probably the best Ive slept in). Great base to explore Yorkshire. Really couldn't have asked for more (except a bigger bath and some more knives)

A lovely home in a great setting. Location is central for accessing a wide variety of places along with the handy fishing just out the back garden. The property is comfortable and homely and the hosts are friendly and responsive. We would definitely recommend for couples or families and hope to go again as there is so much more to see and explore.

We loved our stay at Woodend! Comfortable, very spacious and a really good location. The personal entrance to the fishing lakes through the back garden of the property was especially appreciated by the anglers in the group! Just a great place and somewhere weve all decided to go back to next year *****

Lovely spacious property, clean, and in a nice location. However, lack of a proper Fridge Freezer led to some frozen food brought with us, not being able to kept frozen. Surely a Fridge Freezer is appropriate for a party of up to 6 guests?

The property is spacious and in a lovely and convenient location. However, it needs a good clean and some TLC. The garden is large and secure but again could do with some TLC. No instructions for anything and the kitchen is not well equipped- fridge is far too small and there is only a small ice box. A visitor book would be nice - we always find thRead moreem useful to pick up tips and ideas of local area etc. This cottage could be amazing but it all feels a little "it'll do". Hide

A roomy bungalow. Very comfortable. Good size dog safe garden, quiet location (which for us is always the priority) Decent local walks for the dogs. Excellent location to get around the area. On the downside, the fridge freezer is tiny, so is the bath, so be warned. Initiative test on how everything works as no appliance instructions. Some of the gRead morelasses etc needed a good wash before use. But with a bit of tlc and attention to detail this could be a first class holiday let. We enjoyed it Hide
