This property is set in the pretty town of Alston. The town dates back to the 17th century and is the highest in England, around 1,000 feet above sea level. Browse the streets which are dotted with independent shops and places to grab a tasty bite to eat, or set out on the Pennine Way for an adventurous afternoon in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you fancy a day on the water, make the 26.5-mile trip into the Lake District and visit the beautiful lake at Ullswater. The train station in the town is England’s highest narrow-gauge railway and is the starting point for the South Tynedale Railway. Or why not jump in the car onto the A686, one of the AA Magazine’s ‘Ten Great Drives’? Alternatively, cyclists in your party with a sense of adventure can embark on a long, steep climb up Hartside Fell (29 miles), which also forms part of the Coast-to-Coast Cycle Route.

Walk into this stunning 18th-century manor house, and you will find yourself mid-landing on the traditional stone staircase – it is a great entrance to this unique property. Head down to the ground floor and you will find the traditional pub with a lounge area. This offers a fabulous place to gather family and friends, so why not plan your own pub quiz night? There are WCs on the ground floor and a formal dining room to accommodate the whole party. The commercial-style kitchen offers all the equipment you need to cook for the whole party, but you may prefer to enjoy a nice meal out in the village. Head up the staircase to the first floor where there is a relaxed lounge with an open fire and views over the garden: enjoy some board games or read a good book in this lovely, bright room. There are four bedrooms on this floor, all are en-suite and have their own TVs. Up onto the half-landing, there are two further bedrooms, one king-size and one single (please note there is limited headroom due to sloping ceilings). Head up to the second floor, where you will find the other five bedrooms which are again all en-suite with TVs.

There is a large garden to the front of the property, which is shared with the small cottage next door. It is popular with a large variety of small garden birds who visit the feeders daily. The native red squirrel also enjoys visiting the feeder, on the 160ft sequoia tree, which is otherwise known as an American redwood tree. You may even be lucky enough to spot roe deer in the garden. There are picnic tables available for you to sit and enjoy a drink, and enjoy the wildlife and countryside around you.

Had an amazing stay in the Manor House and Coach House. Unfortunately, we didnt meet Jim and Janice but was in touch with them before and over the weekend. Any problems they were quick to answer and solved any issues which were minor. The house was perfect for a group stay of family and friends. Great to have a bar, a very comfortable lounge, and rRead moreeally well equipped kitchen. All bedrooms were a good size and Alston is a lovely place to visit. I would highly recommend! Hide

A fantastic weekend with the whole family. The accommodation was perfect for young and old and had plenty of space to find your own chill out area, if needed. The bar area was super as we could all sit in it( held our own pub quiz) without worrying about drinks getting knocked over and ruining carpets and furnishings. All bedrooms had en-suites, beRead moreds were comfortable and well presented. We had taken our dogs and there was outside area for the dogs to roam about. Everyone had a great time. Hide
