Those who love life on the water can head down to the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake on your doorstep or Derwentwater, 8 miles away, to enjoy a lake cruise, canoeing or kayaking. The idyllic village of Keswick, 6.5 miles away, is famous for its historic theatre and cinema, and provides a playground of activities for outdoor explorers, boasting some stunning walks in the fells. The Georgian market town of Cockermouth, 9 miles away, boasts a fantastic selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

The inviting open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner that greets you makes the most of the natural light and stunning vistas. The pitched, wooden-clad ceiling adds a sense of space, whilst contemporary touches set the scene for pure relaxation. Soak up your stunning scenery and enjoy a spot of al fresco dining from the comfort of the large, wooden deck which wraps around the lodge. The surrounding lodge park features an on-site laundrette and a small play area for children. There is parking next to the lodge.

  • Fishing is allowed from the jetty and foreshore from 1 March to 15 November at no additional cost – a valid rod fishing licence is required

The cottage was lovely, just a few tweaks needed but all in all, would be good to have a map of the site (where bins are located) in the cottage rather than having to go to reception, would also be good to have a shop on site rather than having to travel at least 5 miles to the nearest shop, even though you can get online deliveries but that's onlyRead more next day Hide
