Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location in a very pretty and upmarket town. The cottage has lots of charm, but with some mod-cons too, 3 toilets is also a logistical win. It is the location that is special 3 mins walk from the very centre of Aldeburgh or the beach and yet far enough away from both to be quiet. Dogs are welcomed here and thoughRead more the main part of the beach does not allow dogs in high season, there is a section of beach 5 min walk from the cottage that does, as well as a nice 5km loop walk through the marshes for the doggie needs. The location is excellent but we were disappointed by this property which generally did not offer the quality and comfort we expected. The property could do with a really deep clean, some of the tired and grubby furnishings being replaced, removal of much of the general clutter and 'art' and the so-called garden cur back and tidied up. Fabulous location. Shame the roadside parking outside the cottage is limited to 2 hours between 9am and 6pm. Not the end of the world but would have been good to know. Free parking is available in roads off the high street. Cottage is tired, bathrooms have been updated but the rest of the house needs some tlc

We had a comfortable stay. The cottage is nice and light but some of the furnishings are tired and the house could do with less clutter. There is free parking outside on the street and there was usually a space but it is time restricted so OK for loading but not for parking all day.
