Staying at this charming retreat, part of Thorney Hall, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales offers couples and families a wonderful mix of history, scenery and memorable days out. Built by Lord Bolton for his daughter, the Hall was carefully positioned to capture his favourite view – Middleham Castle, perfectly framed from the house. The surrounding area is a dream for walkers, with the Yorkshire Dales right on the doorstep and a thriving community pub just half a mile away. Head to Harmby Waterfall (0.5 miles), a hidden gem where water tumbles into a leafy gorge. Families will love a trip to The Forbidden Corner (5.5 miles), a unique maze of tunnels, follies and surprises set within a four-acre garden. For shops, cafes and local charm, Leyburn (1.5 miles) is ideal for a wander, while the historic market town of Richmond (11 miles) makes a great day out, with its cobbled marketplace, castle and riverside walks.

All arranged on one level (with three internal steps leading to the bedrooms), this welcoming retreat blends heritage character with modern comfort. Enter into the generous hallway, where an original cast-iron cooking range makes a striking first impression. The lounge has a snug feel, with sofa seating and a Smart TV for relaxed evenings in. Next door, the kitchen/diner pairs smart grey cabinetry with warm wooden worktops and everything needed for laid-back mealtimes. There are two bedrooms: a twin and a king-size master with its own dressing area. A door can be closed to create a more private suite arrangement if required. A family shower room serves the twin room, while the master has access to a bathroom.

Outside, the enclosed garden includes a lawn, patio and outdoor furniture for al fresco drinks or dining. Parking is available for 1 car on a private gated driveway.

Lovely cottage . The local pub is great friendly and the food was fantastic plus a good choice of beer .

Great cottage, we really liked it and enjoyed our stay, Very well equiped, all needs catered for. spotlessly clean, and a great layout. Great location, very quiet and peaceful and also ideal for exploring the surrounding areas. If we are ever visiting the area again wouldn't hesitate to re-book.

A lovely place to stay! We particularly liked the cosy lounge and the large well-appointed kitchen. The location is perfect for anybody wanting to explore the Dales and beyond and to recharge your batteries in a peaceful and beautiful part of the world.

Very comfortable cottage in a great location, a short drive to Leyburn which has plenty of shops. Well equipped kitchen, we mostly cooked in and found everything we needed, plenty of crockery and cutlery, utensils and pans. This meant we could use the dishwasher efficiently. The beds were comfy, such a quiet area so we slept well.
