Perfect for a romantic retreat, this captivating rural escape sits just outside the historic village of Picklescott, in the northern foothills of the Long Mynd. There is so much to do in this designated National Landscape, which is teeming with wildlife, including deer, hares, curlews, skylarks and rare hen harriers. Walking trails, biking routes and bridleways criss-cross the landscape, and you’re on the border of the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve, which is worth exploring for its dramatic scenery and sweeping views. Nearby Church Stretton (6 miles) is popular with walkers. Visit the medieval market town of Shrewsbury (11 miles), and discover its cobbled streets filled with independent shops and high-quality restaurants, or head to Snailbeach Mine (10 miles) England’s most complete lead mine, for a fascinating insight into our industrial heritage – above and below ground. Experience the food and history of Ludlow (24 miles), or the National Trust estate of Attingham Park is only 12 miles away.

Inside the carefully converted building, you’ll find a welcoming, open-plan living space with a sloping ceiling, skylights and original wooden floorboards. The eclectic furnishings are delightfully shabby chic, including a farmhouse-style dining table lit by factory pendants, and a leather sofa that’s perfect for snuggling and enjoying a favourite movie on the Smart TV. The painted kitchen sits along one side of the room, and includes a deep, ceramic sink as well as a coffee machine and a handy air fryer. This room leads, via double doors, to the spectacular conservatory, with its rustic beams, comfortable seating and panoramic country views. When night falls, head to the charming king-size bedroom, also with a sloping ceiling and skylights, where you’ll find an antique metal-frame bed as well as hooks and a chest of drawers for storage. The adjacent shower room completes the interior, offering plenty of space and a walk-in shower with a rainfall head.

The enclosed lawned garden is a fabulous place in which to enjoy the sunshine or watch the stars come out, whether you’re sipping a morning coffee or a sundowner, or even taking your meal out into the fresh air. Admire the peaceful views, listen to birdsong and enjoy the ability to completely unwind. The property also features a patio with firepit to spend your evenings discussing your days adventures around. Adding to the benefits of this gorgeous property is private, off-road parking for two cars.

This is a lovely conversion in a stunning location. The owners have paid every attention to detail. Not just with the high quality finishing and equipment, but also lots of nice little touches. All immediate comforts were catered for and additions such as handmade soap, fresh milk, eggs, tea and two coffee options were much appreciated. Fresh towelRead mores and linen and pretty much everything you need was provided. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking full meals and a barbecue on the patio was another option. A washing machine and dishwasher (along with detergents) was also available. Dogs are well catered for and an area to the left is designed just for them. Wi-fi and t.v. as well as bluetooth music worked well. As for outside, the garden area is mainly laid with flags that give the appearance of an enormous balcony which benefits from an elevated position, with a full 180 degree panorama looking over the hills from the Long Mynd right out to The Wrekin some 20 miles distant. A fabulous place to sit, read, paint or watch with binoculars or telescope. The dawn and the night sky are wonderful from here. The owners were very attentive without being intrusive in any degree. They have obviously invested much of their time and care into making this a wonderful place to stay and to explore the beautiful areas roundabout. I would absolutely recommend this to all. Hide

Lovely comfortable cottage beautifully decorated and furnished, with a super oak conservatory leading onto a private patio and small lawn area. Well enclosed and good patio furniture with a fire pit too. The view is just superb. A perfect place to escape to and just enjoy being! The kitchen is well equipped and the smart tv is easy to use. The only downside is the approach up a half mile long farm track which is fairly rough but ok if taken at a slow speed and ones car isnt low to the ground. Hide

Cosy, yet spacious cottage, with stunning views and lovely outside sitting area. I managed to watch the end of my Netflix series from the comfort of the sofa, whilst my husband read his paper in the conservatory. Our GSD sprawled out in there too. The pub in the village, Bottle and Glass was very friendly and food was really good, one of the best sRead moreteak pies ever! We visited Church Stratton and Carding Mill Valley, Ludlow and Shrewsbury. There is an abundance of walks to choose from and the owners have left out a good ordinance survey map too. Hide
