Escape to this exquisite, semi-detached retreat in the tranquil village of Rock in scenic Northumberland. This property is in a quiet setting with rural landscape all around, a lovely church just down the road, and the Northumberland Coast National Landscape within a 5-mile drive. Head to the impressive, horseshoe-shaped, sandy beach at Low Newton, complete with a charming beachside pub, or explore the harbour at Craster (both 5 miles). Alnwick Castle and Gardens (6 miles) was a Harry Potter and Downton Abbey filming location and makes a spectacular backdrop for a day out. Longhoughton Beach is a hidden gem (6 miles), while charming Beadnell (8 miles) is a popular beauty spot with a lovely harbour and water sports opportunities. Venture a little further, and you’ll reach Bamburgh and its iconic castle, which is located 14 miles away.

Step up two stone steps through the front door at the side of this elegant property. The hallway provides a space to drop bags before you head into the bright, spacious, welcoming lounge. This wonderful room boasts solid flooring, beautiful French doors onto the garden to open on warm days, plus comfortable seating, a Smart TV and a wood burner set in the corner for atmospheric evenings in. Just off the lounge is a stylish ground-floor shower room, and back through the hallway sits the kitchen/diner. Chic units and lighting in the well-equipped kitchen make cooking a joy, and a country-cottage table and chairs offer the opportunity for sharing sit-down meals. Large windows and a glass door allow natural light to filter in, creating a light and lovely space. A door in the kitchen/diner leads to the utility boasting a washing machine and tumble dryer for easy, convenient holiday clean-ups, alongside coat hooks and space for storing shoes. When night falls, climb the stairs to access the three thoughtfully decorated bedrooms. Choose between two king-size bedrooms and one twin room, made up of one double and one single bed. A contemporary, sophisticated family bathroom with a shower over the bath set-up completes this excellent retreat.

Outside to the rear of the property sits a long, enclosed, gravelled garden with a side gate and a delightful summer house set at the far end. Elegant outdoor seating provides a perfect spot for sitting with a magazine, while you can cook up delicious summer dinners on the charcoal BBQ. At the front, there is private parking for two cars, plus additional visitors' parking available opposite, subject to availability.

This cottage is of a very high standard and lends itself for a wonderful dog friendly holiday. Everything was spotlessly clean, fluffy towels and comfy beds, plus the needs of our two dogs catered for with dog bed, bowls and biscuits. The welcome pack for us even had a bottle of wine and lots of nibbles. Great information from the owner, nothing seRead moreemed too much trouble. The location was so great to get to many places, beaches, towns, castles, boat trips etc. Nothing seemed more than half an hour away. We had a lovely family holiday with lots of good memories together. Definitely recommend Between a Rock and a Calm Place. Hide
