An attractive house set in magical surroundings, this detached retreat captures magnificent countryside and coastal views. Nestled in large gardens, 1.5 miles from Hope Cove, the four-bedroom cottage offers eight guests the opportunity to discover the exceptional beauty of South Devon. Venture 1.5 miles to Hope Cove to picnic on the sand, potter in rockpools or swim in the turquoise sea from one of its two beaches. From here, you can stride out in either direction along the picturesque South West Coast Path. Discover the National Trust’s sweeping golden beach at South Milton Sands, also 1.5 miles away on foot, or its cliff-top walks at Bolberry Down, 3 miles away. The seaside town of Salcombe (3 miles) offers sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding on the estuary. Meander through the shops, dine out on freshly landed seafood and visit the gin distillery while you are here.

Pause to admire the astounding views before entering the dog-friendly holiday home via its impressive hallway. Turn left to find yourselves in the light-filled, open-plan kitchen/diner, where you can open the door to the mature garden on fine, summer days. This large space, which has a feature Aga at one end and a working range-style electric cooker at the other, will quickly become the social hub during your stay. Prepare holiday feasts, then gather around the farmhouse-style table in here for lively meals. Perch up at the breakfast bar with a cup of coffee as you chat to the chef. There is also access to the handy utility room, where you can wash and dry your beachwear, and a useful downstairs WC. Decide whether to find your favourite TV programme or set up a board game in the nearby snug or to head through to the main lounge to relax. Here you can stoke up the open fire and stream your current boxset on the Smart TV as it crackles gently in the background. Also downstairs is the incredible sunroom, which is the perfect place to absorb the views as you unwind over a cup of tea, or enjoy the formal dining table here for those special, celebratory meals. When you are ready to turn in for the night, your four inviting bedrooms await upstairs on the first floor. Three of these have king-size beds, and one is a twin room, with zip-and-link beds that can be made into a super-king-size on request. Two king-sizes and the twin have en-suite shower rooms, while the master king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, with both a bath and a shower.

Make memories to treasure when you spend time out in the enclosed garden at this superb sanctuary as well. Serve summer lunches on the patio or grill produce on the BBQ to enjoy out in the sea air against the spectacular backdrop. Watch the children as they play on the grass with their four-legged friend.

A beautiful house with amazing views. Was clean and generally well appointed, the beds were comfy and bedding of good quality. We had a great week, lots of lovely dog walks from the house, quite hilly in parts and this would need to be considered if you were not fairly fit and healthy.
