An enticing glamping abode in the Surrey Hills, this delightful shepherd’s hut makes for an idyllic romantic retreat. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom bolthole nestles on a tranquil site near Westcott, 4.5 miles from Dorking. Lace up your walking boots and step straight out to discover the local bridleway that runs through Logmore Farm leading up to the beauty of the Surrey Hills and Wolvens Lane. Spot wildlife at the National Trust’s Abinger Roughs and Netley Park, 3.5 miles away, or venture 6.5 miles to the organisation’s Denbies Hillside, with its panoramic views. The Edwardian country retreat of Polesden Lacey, 7.5 miles away, with its elegant gardens and acres of parkland to explore, makes a fabulous day out. Dorking, with its colourful shops, boutiques and food outlets, is a great place to potter and pause for afternoon tea. Head to picturesque Guildford, 12 miles away, for a wider array of shops and eateries, and to walk beside the river and see the castle ruins. For a more relaxing afternoon take a stroll to one of the nearby outdoor local coffee shops for coffee and slice of cake.
Make your way up five steps to enter the shepherd’s hut via the stable door. Keep the top half of this open on summer mornings to bring in a refreshing breeze. Carefully decorated to a gentle country cottage theme, the interior of the retreat is immediately welcoming. Light the wood burner to cast a cosy glow across the friendly, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom. Prepare light meals for each other in here, open a bottle of wine, then chat as you dine together at the fold-out table. Read your books or play a hand or two of cards before tucking into the sumptuous king-size bed for a great night’s sleep. The shepherd’s hut also encompasses a shower room and WC.
Feel at one with nature as you relax outside in the sunshine or under the stars. Gaze out towards the Surrey Hills over summer lunches at the table or a glass of wine on the bench. There is private parking for two cars.
