This seaside retreat was once a working herring smokery and now offers a relaxed base for up to six guests looking for a peaceful getaway. It sits in the historic town of Dunbar, known for its stunning seaside scenery, panoramic beaches, busy fishing harbours, and the ruins of a castle that was once the most important in Scottish history. Belhaven Bay and Whitesands are great choices for those seeking to get sand between their toes, while avid walkers can join the coastal path for wildlife spotting or rambles into the Lammermuir Hills. Another popular wildlife haven is John Muir Country Park (1.5 miles), or you can join the Bass Rock boat trips, where passengers can gaze upon the largest Northern gannet colony in the world. If you want to stretch your wings even further, Edinburgh is just a 20 minute train ride away.
