Located just a few feet from Porthtowan Bay, one of Cornwall’s best beaches for surfing and bodyboarding, as well as home to a natural tidal pool, this splendid property is perfect for families or friends seeking a relaxing seaside escape. The Engine House is Grade II listed and a unique part of Cornwall’s mining heritage and beach culture. Featured on ‘Grand Designs’ and ‘Homes by the Sea’, it provides immediate access to the beach for amazing walks and awesome surf. Walkers will love the variety of scenic walks in either direction from Porthtowan along the South West Coast Path. The setting is true Poldark country – between Illogan and St Agnes (knows as St Anne’s in the book and TV series). The popular seaside town of St Ives, with its famous harbour, surfing beaches and seafood eateries, is less than 20 miles away. Families can enjoy a ride on the Lappa Valley Steam Railway or visit the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, both within 15 miles. Alternatively, make a day trip further afield to iconic Land’s End, The Eden Project or St Michael's Mount, all within 30 miles of the property. There is a regular bus service from Porthtowan to Truro and beyond. Redruth train station is only a few miles away.

Set over three levels, this property brimming with character, comfort and convenience, so along with the beautiful architecture, the superb interior design ensures an unforgettable stay. Step inside this perfect blend of Cornish heritage and seaside lifestyle, and you can only admire the impressive layout, the whitewashed walls, and the spaciousness. As soon as you arrive, you feel that an adventure is about to begin! The reverse-level layout offers incredible beach views from the open-plan first and top floors. From the inner hallway, you'll find a wet room and stairs down to a stunningly cosy double bedroom. Down from the main staircase, you will find the other immaculate bedrooms, choose from a double bedroom and a twin (which can be made up as a king on request), both with plenty of space for storage. There is also a beautiful family bathroom here. On the first floor you will find a splendid kitchen and dining area. The contemporary kitchen has all the appliances to make meal preparation a breeze. Eat together in the kitchen at the dining table or the small breakfast bar for informal meals, or choose the second dining area, which features a more rustic feel – this area also boasts a wonderful wood burner to create a cosy ambience. An easy chair awaits by the door leading out to the decking. Stairs lead up to the top floor, where you will find an impressive lounge area with a high-vaulted ceiling, exposed wooden beams and sensational views out to the surrounding coast. Relax together on the comfortable seating after a day at the beach and enjoy the relaxed social feel as you catch up over conversation, read, or find your favourite movie to watch on the Smart TV. The top floor boasts plenty of discrete areas for people to gather on easy chairs, benches or even a hammock.

Head outside to admire the views from the enclosed, elevated decking terrace and unwind in the outdoor seating. Fire up the built-in pizza oven for an evening of al fresco dining and memorable moments while watching the sun set. There is private off-road parking for up to five cars.
