A delightful, dog-friendly retreat, this enchanting period property encompasses everything a small group needs for a lovely Lake District stay. Nestled in picturesque countryside, close to Ings, 2.5 miles from the town of Windermere and 5 miles from Bowness-on-Windermere, the two-bedroom cottage sleeps four guests. Head into Windermere to dine out, potter in the shops and stock up on local Cumbrian produce. Venture into Bowness to take a lake cruise out onto Windermere or hire your own rowing or electric boat. You can also board a heritage steam train from here to enjoy the magnificent scenery from the comfort of a carriage. Head to Kentmere, 6 miles away, to stroll through the beautiful valley and spot wildlife. Discover colourful Ambleside, 7 miles away, and bustling Kendal, 6.5 miles away. Plan a day out to the National Trust’s Wray Castle, 10 miles away, or Fell Foot, 10.5 miles from the cottage.

Pause to admire your beautiful surroundings as you amble up the garden path to the cottage. Slide your shoes in the covered porch, where you can also hang jackets and dog leads. Step inside to find yourselves in the open-plan lounge/diner, where there are exposed beams and sun streams through the window. Lay a fire in the wood burner, then sink back into the deep leather sofas to bask in its wonderful heat. Find a film to enjoy together on the Smart TV, play a game or discuss the exciting day you have had together. When mealtimes beckon, the compact kitchen, which adjoins the main living area, features everything you will need to help you in your self-catering. Set the table in the large room for your happy holiday feasts. As night falls, carefully climb the steep, narrow cottage-style staircase up to the first floor. Here you will find your cosy, beamed bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, as well as your family bathroom, with both a bath and a shower.

The small enclosed garden is to the front of the cottage. Unwind outside over morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, while your canine companion noses about and enjoys the fresh air.

A lovely, comfortable cottage that is well positioned for exploring the eastern lakes. It is a cottage with history so expect low ceilings and doorways downstairs and uneven floors upstairs. All of which simply add to the character of the cottage.

We had a great stay here. Well equipped and comfortable - thoughtful touches in the kitchen especially. Decor is on the old side but that didn't bother us. We loved the front garden area where we could listen to the birds! Footpaths and local pub nearby. We didn't spend much time inside!!
