With room for couples, friends or small families, plus up to two dogs, this pretty stone cottage is in a perfect position for outdoor adventures. Located on the edge of LLanelltyd village, it’s just 5 miles from the seaside resort of Barmouth and 3 miles from Dolgellau, where you’ll find an array of independent shops, restaurants and pubs. From there you can climb the legendary Cader Idris, the highest mountain in southern Eryri (Snowdonia). The public footpath starting from right outside the drive leads to forest walks up to New Precipice Walk with outstanding views of the Mawddach Estuary. The footpath also provides access to the lake Llyn-tan- y Graig for wild water swimming and paddling. Coed y Brenin’s renowned mountain bike centre is just 3 miles away. For walkers and cyclists, the 9-mile Mawddach Trail can be joined over the unique toll bridge at Penmaenpool, 1 mile away.

Approach the picturesque getaway past the babbling brook, enjoying the feature planting as you stroll to the front door. The hall has space for boots and coats, and there’s also a useful WC. The kitchen/diner is a sociable space in which to rustle up a meal, featuring a microwave and a dishwasher for convenience. The dining table is the perfect setting for everyone to gather and enjoy the culinary delights – perhaps prepared using local produce picked up on your travels. Walk up a short flight of steps to find the welcoming lounge, with comfortable seating and a Smart TV on a mezzanine overlooking the kitchen/diner – a cosy area for catching up with your favourite shows. Alternatively, simply sit quietly and enjoy the panoramic views across the Mawddach Estuary towards Cader Idris. For extra cosiness, switch on the wood burner-effect electric fire and snuggle down with a hot chocolate and a good book. If you’re feeling a little more active, head outside to the games barn, where you’ll find a 7’ pub sized pool table, table tennis, a darts board, and table football. When you’re ready for a good night’s sleep, head upstairs and choose from two lovely bedrooms, a double and a twin, which share a family bathroom.

For relaxation in the sunshine, make the most of the spacious, enclosed garden with its huge lawn. Children and pets can play safely as you grill something delicious on BBQ and relish the incredible views. Morning coffee or a sundowner will be a pleasure as you enjoy the fresh air. If you’re bringing bikes, canoes or other outdoor equipment, there is storage space in the games barn, and you’ll also have private parking for two cars. The owners live on site, but your privacy is assured at all times.

Such a great retreat- its situated next to an amazing magical walk up to a mountain lake with a beautiful view but also has great facilities if like us you are coming with kids. The games room was a lifesaver for our teenagers with pool and ping pong used constantly when they were bored in the rain. Excellent sourdough pizza just a few mins down Read morethe road and stunning views from the window plus an enclosed garden that was perfect for our anxious dog. Sally and Martin were so helpful and friendly and even in February it felt like wed found a great gem of a place. The decor is simple and basic but crucially all works perfectly: comfy sofa, comfy beds, and all very clean. Located for lots of amazing hikes and a lovely garden. Would totally revisit and judging from their visitor book many people use this yearly too- totally recommend. Hide
