Bay Tree Cottage is a characterful period cottage (c1843) on Charmouth High Street, ideally placed for enjoying village life and the Jurassic Coast. Charmouth’s famous fossil-rich beach is just a short walk away, and the Southwest Coast Path offering spectacular coastal views straight from the doorstep. The village is a popular year-round destination and an excellent base for walkers, beach lovers, and families alike. Nearby Lyme Regis is easily reached by car, bus or on foot along the coast path, and offers independent shops, cafés, bars and a family-friendly beach. Bridport is also close by, known for its lively market atmosphere, food scene and independent retailers. Other nearby places to explore include West Bay, Beer and Abbotsbury, giving guests plenty of options for days out along this beautiful stretch of coast.
At the front of the cottage, a courtyard planted with colourful flowers, shrubs and a striking bay tree creates a warm welcome. Inside, there is a handy entrance area for coats and boots, leading into a spacious, homely living room with original floorboards, an open fire, a Smart TV and a digital piano. The kitchen and dining area is bright and well designed, with modern appliances, beech worktops, a larder and a large family fridge with an ice maker and filtered water. The adjoining dining space sits beneath a bespoke glass roof that fills the room with natural light, and French doors open onto the rear garden for easy outdoor dining. Also on the ground floor is a spacious utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, walk-in shower and WC. Upstairs, the original winding staircase leads to three characterful bedrooms and a family bathroom with a bathtub. The principal bedroom is full of character with original wide floorboards and a king-size bed, the second bedroom is spacious and comfortably accommodates a king-size bed plus an additional small single ideal for children and the cosy third bedroom overlooks the garden and has a small double bed. Please note the fully carpeted staircase to the first floor is steep and winding so may be unsuitable for guests with disabilities or limited mobility issues. There is a grab rail installed on the staircase.
Outside, the enclosed rear garden offers a private and peaceful space for sunny afternoons. Guests can enjoy a patio with outdoor lighting, table and chairs for al fresco dining, as well as a small terrace with a sun lounger and a small lawned area.
