Set against a backdrop of the awe-inspiring Wye Valley, this elevated holiday home promises unforgettable views and exceptional comfort. The property sits on the edge of St Briavels (0.5 miles), home to a pub, a deli, a church and a castle, along with a monthly farmers’ market. From the village, explore the vast Forest of Dean, an ancient woodland featuring cycle paths, mystical trails and scenic viewpoints. Look out for deer, wild boar and a wide variety of rare birds while you trek. Around 2 miles away, discover Cadora Woods and the banks of the River Wye, following the renowned Offa’s Dyke Path through bluebell-strewn woodlands and oak-lined footpaths. Just 13 miles away lies the iconic water sports destination of Symonds Yat, with canoe and kayak hire ensuring you can make the most of the wonderful Wye – or you can stay on dry land and enjoy a tranquil riverside walk.

Given all that natural beauty right on the property’s doorstep, it’s clear that care has been taken to highlight the wildlife and landscape in the home’s design. Large picture windows in the extension to the original 19th-century cottage flood the space with light and offer uninterrupted views of the surroundings. Step into the porch, where there is space for storing coats and shoes. From here, head into the original cottage's living room, with its original range fireplace, sofa and armchairs. The first of the four bedrooms – a double with exposed beams and an original ornamental fireplace (no longer in use) – leads directly off this living room. Next up is the spacious ground floor of the extension, with its open-plan living area. This wonderfully social space features a large L-shaped sofa, a fully equipped kitchen and a charming dining area. Let the wood burner create a soft glow in the corner as you switch on the TV. The dining area has a spectacular table made from a single tree slice and this comfortably seats eight on the bench-style seating. Completing the ground floor is a small study/work space with table and chairs and computer printer, as well as a functional utility area, WC and shower room. Upstairs, find a second seating area with soft furnishings positioned opposite a large picture window framing incredible views. This unique lounge includes a telescope for wildlife-spotting and stargazing, along with an additional TV. The remaining bedrooms – one king-size, another double and a twin – are all located on this floor, along with a family bathroom with a bath to sink into. Two of the bedrooms also boast en-suite facilities for added privacy.

Experience the distant views up close from the garden, that while not completely enclosed, is a child- and pet-friendly space (under supervision as necessary). The paved patio is fully finished, complete with a BBQ and fire pit. The car parking area can usually accommodate up to four cars.
