Sleeping four, this delightful Bakewell cottage offers a warm and inviting base for a romantic retreat or a peaceful break with the family. Tucked in one of the prettiest corners of the Peak District, it sits just moments from the gentle flow of the River Wye and the tempting aroma of the town’s famous pudding shop. Step outside and you are within 500 metres of cosy cafés, welcoming pubs, and charming independent boutiques, making it easy to enjoy relaxed days close to home. Wander along the riverside for views of Bakewell’s old stone bridge, its church, and the soft hills beyond, or set off on scenic walks to Ashford-in-the-Water, 1.5 miles away, and Monsal Head, 2.5 miles away. For a touch of grandeur, Chatsworth House lies only 3 miles away, with Haddon Hall at 2 miles. With beauty in every direction, this cottage promises a gentle, memorable escape.

Step through the front porch and into a beautifully curated open-plan living space, where every element feels chosen with care. Pretty walls, warm wood, and gentle lighting create an inviting atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The lounge area is arranged around the cosy wood burner, its ambient glow reflected in the ornate mirror above the hearth. Deep, comfortable sofas and thoughtful touches make this a restful place to unwind, read, chat, or simply enjoy the peaceful setting. Beside the spiral staircase, the dining nook brings a charming, intimate feel. A rustic chandelier casts a warm light over the wooden table, while the decorative corner cabinet, filled with glassware and character pieces, adds a sense of homeliness. It is an easy space for gathering over meals or planning the day ahead. At the rear of the cottage, the kitchen continues the warm palette with charming cabinetry, patterned tiles, and a welcoming glow from the window. It feels cheerful and lived-in; a place shaped with love where cooking becomes part of the holiday experience. Upstairs, the bedrooms offer comfort and tranquillity. The king-size room features crisp linens, soft lighting, and a private en-suite shower room. The twin room is equally inviting, finished in calm tones and gentle textures. A second bathroom with a shower over the bath, including a dual-headed shower, serves this floor.

Outside, a small enclosed courtyard with furniture offers a quiet spot for morning coffee or a breath of fresh air after days spent exploring Bakewell and the wider Peak District.

Cottage is comfortable and homely - everything there that we needed - and exceptionally clean! Comfortable beds. Location of the cottage in central Bakewell is excellent - a no through road, but 5 minutes from shops, cafes and restaurants. Good communication from the owner during our stay to check everything was ok - which it was. BeautifRead moreul walks locally - and also Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Eyam Village worth a visit. A week wasn't long enough and we hope to return next year. Hide

The Cottage is perfect for exploring Bakewell and the Peak District. The accommodation was extremely well equipped, spacious and spotlessly clean. We felt at home immediately and throughout our stay. Our host was amazing. Great communication and great local knowledge. With the River Wye only yards away this quiet cottage is a hidden gem.

Great place to stay. Comfortable, beautifully presented, with everything you need. Location was excellent, so close to the many pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, lovely walks by the river and into the countryside. There is so much to do you'll be spoilt for choice. We hope to return in the future.

The house was very clean, and well located for exploring Bakewell and the surrounding area. Communication from the owners was also clear and good. The house was comfortable and it had everything we needed. Parking spots on the street with the permit are in short supply but we somehow got the last space every time!
