At the end of a quiet country lane, this peaceful reverse-level stone cottage offers an undisturbed atmosphere and incredible views – ideal for couples, families and friends seeking a rural Gloucestershire escape. Positioned between two charming villages, Huntley (2 miles) and Longhope (1 mile), you’ll find welcoming country pubs, locally brewed cider and independent shops for stocking up on everyday essentials. The Forest of Dean is on the doorstep, providing a wide array of cycling routes, woodland trails and wildlife-rich scenery – including Mallards Pike (10 miles) and Symonds Yat (12.5 miles). Adventure-seekers will love the Go Ape centre (9.5 miles), while those preferring a slower pace can explore the Dean Heritage Centre (8 miles). For riverside walks, follow the banks of the River Severn (5 miles), a route that stretches all the way to the market town of Chepstow (23 miles) on the England/Wales border.

Blooming flower beds and climbing flora enhance the old English charm of this pretty stone cottage, with impeccable views on both sides adding to its appeal. Designed with a reverse-level layout to make the most of its surroundings, the first floor features a light-filled open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner. Hardwood floors and rich tones give the space a warm and inviting feel, while the wood burner adds cosiness opposite the sofa and TV when the weather turns cool. Find all you need in the country-inspired kitchen to cook up holiday feasts, then sit down to enjoy the chef’s work at the round table beneath the skylight. At the end of each busy day away, head downstairs and choose from two welcoming bedrooms: a master king-size and a charming twin, served by a well-appointed family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

From the first floor, French doors open onto an elevated terrace with a treehouse feel, surrounded by towering trees and offering sweeping countryside views. With a table and chairs, it’s the perfect spot for morning coffees and al fresco evening meals. At ground level, you’re welcome to wander the owners’ beautiful gardens. This is a lovely cottage in a very special location. It's so quiet and peaceful. The cottage had plenty of room for the 4 of us, the beds are comfortable and the owners made us feel very welcome. We will definitely look to return on future trips. Thank you.

Amazing location and beautiful layout that makes the most of the view. Ideally placed for the Forest of Dean or Bristol depending on what you are looking for. Be advised the driveway up is single lane and steep but worth it

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage, which was exactly as expected. Gail & Roger were friendly, attentive hosts, checking in regularly to ensure that we had everything we needed. The cottage itself was clean, cosy and comfortable. Beautiful views, chickens running about and Meg the dog being super excited to see us each day was also lovely. Its Read moreperfect for a family stay and well located in Gloucestershire to visit some great locations like Puzzlewood, Clearwell caves and Gloucester city. We would definitely stay here again in future. Hide
