Experience a quintessential Suffolk escape, just a short drive from the scenic countryside and coastline. Orford’s crown jewel is a striking 12th-century castle keep offering panoramic views over the River Ore and the surrounding countryside. Down by the quay, enjoy freshly caught seafood, take a river cruise to Orford Ness National Nature Reserve, or watch the boats drift by. Just 5 miles away, explore Snape Maltings, a cultural hub and home to galleries, boutique shops, and world-class concerts. This is a gorgeous rural property situated in the garden of the owner’s home, but offering privacy during your stay. The building features beautiful wooden cladding, a reminder of Suffolk’s traditional timber-framed buildings. Access to the cottage is to the side of the house. The open-plan ground floor has a living/dining area which welcomes you with a calm and inviting ambience. The decor in the lounge and dining area features warm, natural hues, and with plenty of natural light flooding in, it creates a relaxing atmosphere. Pop a log on the wood burner and curl up on the plush sofa with a book and a warm drink, or catch up on your favourite box set on the Smart TV. Opposite the lounge seating, is the kitchen, featuring beautiful tiling, views over the countryside, and all the appliances needed to create a late brunch, a picnic to go, or a romantic dinner. Sit together at the wooden table to dine, thoughtfully placed near the doors so you can enjoy the view outside. To the rear of the property is a contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC. From the lounge, head up to the attractive mezzanine level with a king-size bedroom featuring a large window affording delightful views across the river, Havergate Island RSPB bird reserve and the marshes.

Outside, a private garden area features a bistro table and chairs, making it the ideal spot for afternoon tea, evening drinks, or al fresco dining. As the garden is within the owner’s garden, their dogs may come and say hello! Private parking is available for one car.

We had a great three nights in the studio. The quality of the towels, cutlery, and crockery is very good and the bed most comfortable. It was great to find a tea pot and a caffetiere which we appreciated. The studio was warm and inviting and the welcome pack was very generous, featuring local products which was a very nice touch. A really lovely place to stay, very warm and comfortable in winter - with plenty of logs from the hospitable owners - and we enjoyed reading about all the different woods used in the construction of the studio. A perfect place for a short break.
